         <description><![CDATA[<div>1. <strong>Background check </strong>– (otherwise known as a <em>background investigation)</em> - a check of what a person has done in the past, usually as part of the process of deciding whether or not to employ them. Very often this process a person or company uses to verify that a person is who they claim to be. For example, the background check contains a DBS check which is a record of a person’s criminal convictions and cautions. It will show details of all spent and unspent convictions, cautions, reprimands and final warnings held on central police records.&nbsp;<br><br></div><div>2. <strong>An injunction </strong>- is a legal remedy in the form of a special court order issued by a judge which requiring a person to do or not do something. &nbsp;<br><br></div><div>3. <strong>Pararegal </strong>- someone who works in a law firm or a company's legal department and has some legal training, but is not a qualified lawyer. A pararegal has extensive knowledge of the law and his role is to support lawyers in their work.&nbsp;<br><br></div><div>4. <strong>Spousal maintenance</strong>&nbsp; is a regular payment that’s paid by a former wife or husband to their ex-partner for a period of time after the end of a marriage or civil partnership. Usually, it’s paid every month. It can be awarded for a specified term or for life in some cases. This is known as <em>alimony</em>.&nbsp;<br><br></div><div>5. <strong>Prohibited Steps Order</strong>is a type of court order which prohibits usually a parent from a certain activity relating to a child. This legally binding order is usually used by one parent to stop another parent from making certain decisions about their child’s upbringing. This is usually after a divorce or separation of the parents.&nbsp;<br><br></div><div>6. <strong>GDPR (</strong><em>General Data Protection Regulation) - </em>is a legal act of the European Union intended to protect people's personal data. It’s a set of data protection rules, which enhance how people can access information about them and places limits on what organisations can do with personal data.&nbsp;<br><br></div><div>7. <strong>Child maintenance - </strong>is financial support towards a child's everyday living costs when you separate from your partner. It's paid by the parent who doesn't usually live with the child to the person who has most day-to-day care of the child.
