"Something that stood out to me from the video “What is translanguaging?” by Ofelia Garcia, was the suggestion that creating a translanguaging classroom can be as simple as utilizing materials such as Google Translator for/with students who are multilingual. While listening to this, I remember thinking about how even the simplest of resources can make such a massive impact on the quality of communication in classrooms, specifically between teachers and students. I then began to think, if tools like google translator can be used for translanguaging, well what are other ways can I as an educator utilize technology setting up/maintaining a translanguaging classroom ? "

I want to be resourceful in how I bring/utilize technology in my translanguaging classroom. I want to provide all my students with safe access to technology. I plan on using platforms like google classroom, class dojo, YouTube, and google translator to uplift the voices/identities of my multilingual students. It is my hope that by taking advantage of the technological resources we have today, I can build the trust of my students and their families.

Furthermore, I to believe that monolingual or even multilingual speaking teachers can benefit from using technological tools in their classroom spaces to further integrate translanguaging pedagogy.

I am a user of Class Dojo myself! I was recently introduced to this social media platform by my CT. It is absolutely fabulous ! In our classroom we take pictures and videos of our classroom discussions and activities. I then upload these to our Class Dojo for all parents to view. This way parents can be in communication with the whole classroom community. As an educator who values transparency and translanguaging, social platforms like this are valuable !
