         <description><![CDATA[<div>Between 1892 and 1954 this small island was Immigration Station, entered 12 milion immigrants in the "New World".Today, more than 40% of all the peolpe who live in America are descendants of the immigrants who came throught Ellis Island. Immigrants came from over Europe. They escaped from extreme poverty, famine, unemployment and religious and racial persecutions. The Statue of Liberty represent the end of their difficult journey and the hope for a new life. The immigrants pass in Ellis Island as a condiotion to enter the United States. For these reasons, Ellis Island was Known as both the " ISLAND OF HOPE" and the " ISLAND OF TEARS".</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Since September 1990 Ellis Island has become the home of the Immigration Museum. The museum offers a very interesting view of the immigrants' experiece. There are numerous galleries filled with historic photos, posters and map which are accopanied by oral histories and immigrat music. There also a collection of object donated by descendants of the immgrants who brought these treasures from their homes to America. These object include family photos, rare clothing and jewellery. Anothere very important section, the Learning Cente helps to teach school children about their immigrant heritag</div>]]></description>
