Knowledge

Knowledge can blind people, but also rewarding in certain circumstances. Prospero is very knowledgeable and he shows this by not trusting Ferdinand, but it is blinding for him because since he got betrayed by his brother, his knowledge of betrayal is demanding for him since he doesn't trust anyone. Prospero has the knowledge to think that Ferdinand is a bad person or a spy and Miranda is trying to speak up for him: "Speak not you for him [Miranda]. He’s a traitor." (Shakespeare 1.2.556). This just shows that knowledge can blind from the truth because he is automatically just going straight to him being a traitor without just hearing him out and hearing what he has to say.

Perspective

Too much perspective can ruin a person, while too little can blind them from the truth. Miranda does not have much perspective because she has lived on the island all her life but an example of someone having too much perspective would be Prospero. Prospero shows this when he is talking to Ferdinand: "An advocate for an impostor? Hush. / Thou think’st there is no more such shapes as he, / Having seen but him and Caliban. Foolish wench, / To th’ most of men this is a Caliban, / And they to him are angels" (Shakespeare 1.2.581-585). Prospero has a lot of perspective, but it's blinding him immediately not trusting people and giving him the benefit of the doubt.

Act 3: Power

People who make others cower before them can be blinded by their power. Prospero, a knowledgeable sorcerer, grudges against his brother and the other royals except for Gonzalo because they cast him out of Milan. When he came to the island, Prospero made two slaves, Ariel and Caliban. When Prospero discovers that the royals crashed on the island because of Ariel, he decides to take revenge on them except Gonzalo. While all of the royals are frozen in place, Prospero goes to say, "In their distractions. They now are in my power; / And in these fits I leave them while I visit / Young Ferdinand, whom they suppose is drowned, / And his and mine loved darling" (Shakespeare 3.3. 110-113). Prospero in this scene is basically just doing an extreme kind of revenge on the royals for a thing that happened years ago. He is a knowledgeable person but the fact that he has a lot more power than the royals is blinding him from being logical about things.

Act 2: Perspective

Someone whose perspective is irrational and ill-advised causes them to act more aggressively and non-sensibly. One of the creatures on the island that Prospero and Miranda were banished to is called Caliban. Caliban has only lived on the island all his life so just like Miranda, he doesn't have a lot of perspective. He was raised by an evil witch so he was exposed to violence because she probably killed people because she was evil. When Caliban meets Trinculo and Stephano, he immediately ditches Prospero and tells Stephano"I prithee, be my god" just because he gave him alcohol (Shakespeare 2.2.155). Since Caliban has very little perspective, he is making an irrational decision to ditch Prospero and just assume he is a god. Then later we find out that Caliban has a plan to kill Prospero which just goes to show that since he is making an ill-advised decision and also has little perspective, it leads him to make aggressive decisions.
