After reading the Ten Ethical Computing Guidelines, I feel that the one students most often violate would be the first one, "thou shalt not use a computer to harm other people." I feel that in the age of social media, it can be easy to anonymously bully people online. Attacking others from the safe environment of one's home unfortunately makes harming others a quick task.

In regards to the first violation, I feel this often occurs as students feel they are safe and sheltered in their familiar environments. However, a person's words and actions have a heavy impact, no matter where they are said. The other violations occur as having a computer helps with all the good parts of life, but also the bad. An invention that was made for the better, always finds its way to the dark depths of the world.

In a perfect world, unethical behavior can be reduced or eliminated with the placement of continuous computer monitoring. However, in the world we live it, that is unrealistic as it can be an invasion of privacy. Prevention can be done through educational classes, but at the end of the day, it is up to the individual if they will be compliant.
