Agriculture is conducted on commercial principles, especially using advanced technology. The group of industries dealing with agricultural produce and services required in farming. An example would be a tractor making facility. Productive Infrastructure facilities and implements such as tractors, power tillers, threshers, rice mills, and multi-crop harvesters. Agriculture and Agribusiness is responsible for one-sixth of North Carolina's Income. Agriculture, food, and related industries contributed roughly $1.264 trillion to U.S. gross domestic product (GDP) in 2021, a 5.4-percent share. Agribusiness is much more popular and capable of sustaining in the eastern coast of North Carolina. Since the weather helps the crops and business in the area. You can start with no experience in this industry with basically nothing you have to look into the market research and go from there. Once you get some basic information you can begin a business plan and start arranging the funds and go from there. I find it very interesting how much agribusiness affects the U.S. economically and how you can start with no experience in the business. I personally would might do it as a side job to help pay for hobbies and other fun things to do.
Sources: https://www.ers.usda.gov/data-products/ag-and-food-statistics-charting-the-essentials/ag-and-food-sectors-and-the-economy/#:~:text=What%20is%20agriculture's%20share%20of,0.7%20percent%20of%20U.S.%20GDP.

Some different sub components of this industry are multi crop harvests and productive infrastructure facilities like tractors. In the US 10.5% of jobs are directly related to agribusiness and can include things like biotechnology, and cattle raising. Agribusinesses in the US add about 1.264 trillion dollars to our economy. In North Carolina agribusinesses have also made an impact. About 10.1 billion dollars have been generated from agribusinesses in North Carolina. You would agribusinesses scattered across the state but a large concentration in the eastern part. Many people with no experience can start an agribusiness, all you need is some space and a little bit of time. The reason why I chose this agricultural industry is because it seemed very interesting to me. I have had many opportunities to start agribusinesses so I would most definitely consider starting one.

Aquaculture is the cultivation of aquatic organisms in controlled aquatic environments. The subcomponents that makeup Aquaculture are the breeding, rearing, and harvesting of plants and animals. How Aquaculture impacts the United States economically by providing year-round jobs, supporting waterfronts and coastal communities, and can provide sustainable economic growth. Across the United States Aquaculture production is valued at $1.5 billion. Aquaculture is very important in North Carolina because it provides multiple jobs to tons of people and it is easier for people to enjoy fresh seafood. This boosts the economy a lot. For example in 2019, the Aquaculture industry grew to nearly $60 million, with more than 100 Aquaculture operations across the state. One Agribusiness that supports Aquaculture is NCDA&CS. The NCAA ( North Carolina Aquaculture Association) is a non-profit corporation that provides support through promotion and marketing, and other beneficial acts to strengthen, expand, and diversify the industries of freshwater and marine aquaculture in North Carolina. You would find Aquaculture near Wilmington, Harbor Island, Wrightsville Beach, and Southeastern North Carolina. How someone can start entering Aquaculture by having internships, volunteering, and having a part-time job in aquaculture. What I found interesting about Aquaculture is since we live so close to the beach there is a lot of Aquaculture going around in the communities near me and I enjoy eating seafood so knowing aquaculture takes part in that is very cool. I would personally enter the aquaculture industry because it is interesting to learn about the animals and how aquaculture is important in North Carolina.
Sources:
- https://www.fisheries.noaa.gov/feature-story/aquaculture-supports-sustainable-earth#:~:text=Oyster%20farmers%20process%20their%20crop,is%20valued%20at%20%241.5%20billion.
-https://www.ncagr.gov/MARKETS/AQUACULTURE/NCAA.html
-https://uncw.edu/aquaculture/facility/index.html#:~:text=The%20Aquaculture%20Facility,Wrightsville%20Beach%2C%20southeastern%20North%20Carolina.

Animal science is the biological science and management of domestic livestock, including beef cattle, horses, sheep, swine and companion animals. Students learn the science, art and practical methods of caring for, improving and managing livestock and companion animals. Us students can learn the science, art and practical methods of caring for, improving and managing livestock and companion animals. You can learn to practice animal science in NC State University as well. Animal science includes all aspects of animals and animal life, animal life cycles, and animal interactions with one another or with their environment. An animal scientist applies principles of the biological, physical, and social sciences to the problems associated with livestock production and management. Animal agriculture directly supported over 46,000 jobs, but considering all other jobs sustained by the industry, the total is nearly 83,000. That total labor activity produced the equivalent of $7.8 billion in value added (or GDP, gross domestic product) from $20 billion in total economic output in the US. A agriscience businesses you can find in NC would be like the North Carolina Zoo. I find it pretty interesting about how you can learn all about animals and go deeper into what their body parts look like and how they differ to other animals. I don't think I would enter this industry but if I ever would its so I can practice to be a veterinarian.

https://animal-science.uark.edu/about/what-is-ansc.php#:~:text=Animal%20science%20is%20the%20biological,managing%20livestock%20and%20companion%20animals.

The animal science industry is a business worried about the science of producing, raising and studying animals whether it is in captivity or in the wild. Different types of subcomponents (Careers) are animal health inspectors, breeders, animal food companies and zoologists. All of these careers have to do with animals whether it's managing them, their food or studying them. Animal science has had a huge economic difference because it has supplied over 83,000 jobs. 46,000 jobs were directly supported for the animal agriculture industry. Animal science is everywhere in North Carolina and Delaware is most likely the best place for the industry. Colleges in NC that have really good animal science programs are NC State, NC agriculture and technical state, virginia tech and clemson university. If you are one that is interested in animal science post highschool and college you would have to go back to college in order to go into the industry. How they take care of animals whether it is for the animals benefit or both. For example the animal gets a good life until it is killed and we get the products. Yes, I would love to enter this program to become a zoologist and/or something very similar with less danger. A agri-business in this industry is Zoology is about studying animals in the wild and captivity and comparing how they act differently. You can go a little bit everywhere to find animal science in North Carolina, near Durham,Nc you can go to North Carolina’s HBCU A&T. An individual could enter this industry through feed manufacturers, meat packers, and animal breeding companies. What I find interesting about this industry is that you don’t always need to have experiences or a degree to explore animal science. Even though it would be helpful, to have it under your belt to expand your knowledge.

Biotechnology is the industry in which biological systems are utilized to create some product/technology. There are 7 main branches of biotechnology, each branch being labeled with a unique color. These branches are red biotechnology (health), green biotechnology (agriculture), white biotechnology (industrial), blue biotechnology (marine), yellow biotechnology (food production), grey biotechnology (restoration of ecosystems), and gold biotechnology (bioinformatics). Because of these branches, we can better diagnose diseases, reduce our carbon footprint, protect our fragile ecosystems, and provide healthier crops. Overall, this industry has been very significant for the US's economy, generating just short of 3 trillion dollars in 2021. It's been relatively significant for North Carolina as well, as the entire biotechnology industry in NC is valued at 73 billion dollars (as of 2014). Most of the biotechnology industry in NC is clustered in Raleigh and Durham, and according to the National Institute of Health, it's one of the best biotechnology clusters in the country. If you're interested in entering this industry, you would need to first obtain a bachelors in biotechnology. Following that, it's recommended to complete an internship, and then enlist in a graduate school corresponding with your branch of interest. Once all of these things are done, you can apply for a position in the industry. All in all, I found this industry to be very interesting, as it has such a wide range of branches and different uses. It can be used for completely unrelated things, such as making vaccines and creating pest resistant crops. Because it has such a wide variety of branches, I would consider entering this industry since it's not specific to one single aspect of the world.

AgBiome is a company in the biotechnology industry with the goal of improving global food production by developing biological products involving microbes.
Hanibal Avila (Horticulture)Horticulture is a branch of agriculture that deals with art, science, technology, and business of plant cultivation. The different subcomponents of horticulture are divided into three areas. Pomology, olericulture, and ornamental horticulture. Horticulture contributes 196 billion to the U.S economy. It also contributes by generating employment. A census in 2014 showed that there were 1,337 horticultural operations with the farm value being 571 million. You would find horticulture in every part of North carolina. You could enter this industry by working in a landscaping company or a private home owner and work your way up. What I found interesting was that horticulturists only earn about 80K but its a very hard profession. Personally, I would not enter this industry because i want to do other things in life. One agribusiness i found is the Durham garden center. sources - https://www.ncagr.gov/

The definition of animal science is studying the biology of animals that are under control of humankind. Some different subcomponents are biological, physical, and social sciences. Animal products not only represent a source of high quality food but are equally important. They are a source of income for many small farmers in developing countries, for purchasing food as well as ag inputs, such as feed, fertilizers, and pesticides. You can find animal science in NC State's Department of animal science. An animal science program teaches you topics including animal care, livestock production, breeding and animal disease control. One of the most important rules is using scientific rules and methods to solve problems. Scientists use animals to learn more about health problems that affect both humans and animals, and to assure the safety of new medical treatments. An animal scientist is called a zoologist. It takes 4 years to study animal science.

What is Animal Science? Animal science is concerned with the science and business of producing domestic livestock species, including but not limited to beef cattle, dairy cattle, horses, poultry, sheep, and swine. Animal science is described as "studying the biology of animals that are under the control of humankind". It can also be described as the production and management of farm animals. Some different branches of animal science are Animal Nutrition, Anatomy and Physiology, Reproductive Physiology, Genetics, Livestock Techniques and Evaluation, Equine Techniques, and Evaluation, and Animal Management courses in advanced discipline courses. You can find animal science at NC State. Animal Science

provides increased economic stability to the farm or household, acting as a cash buffer and as a capital reserve, as well as a deterrent against inflation.

The industry contributes approximately $894 billion in total to the U.S. economy, or just under 6 percent of the total U.S. GDP, and, through its production and distribution linkages, impacts firms in all 440 sectors of the U.S. economy, directly and indirectly providing 5.9 million jobs in the U.S.

And people should pay more attention to it.

What I find interesting about animal science is that the animal science programs teach you topics including animal care, livestock production, breeding, and animal disease control. If you would ever want to enter this industry you could gain experience working with animals, for example, volunteering at a shelter or rescue center, Starting a pet-sitting service, or even Working at a Veterinary Clinic you can do so much. Would I ever personally enter? Yes, I would because it seems like so much fun and I can learn so much.
