Merlin Bird ID: This is a free phone app from Cornell University (no pops up or ads). You do have to sign up with an email I believe. This app will identify all the birds that it hears when you turn it on. I played with this all summer and began recognizing different species of birds. So much fun. I believe that this could be adapted for students (Science 10 - Ecology, or Env.Science 20).
