The images in front of me don’t seem to have a clear connection to one another. Some appear to be old Italian art, possibly with religious themes, while others show animals like cheetahs and lions. The mix of these two very different subjects makes the overall meaning a bit confusing. in my opinion. I think the cheetah and Lion may represent some form of power and the art may depict the same thing with the different characters.

All of these images represent some aspect of Dante's Commedia. We have a lonely dark forest to represent the forest Dante finds himself at the beginning of Canto I. There are three animals, a lion, a tiger, and a (she?)wolf, to represent the three beasts Dante encounters and impede his path while trying to ascend the hill in the forest. The two men are Dante, the protagonist, and Virgil, his guide and mentor through most of the journey he undertakes.

The three women are the three holy women that oversee Dante: the Virgin Mary, St. Lucia, and Beatrice, Dante's childhood love. The Virgin Mary has St. Lucia send Beatrice to intercede with Virgil in guiding Dante.

The connection between a lot of these images are direct correlated to Dante's Inferno. The animals represent the beasts that he comes face to face with the leopard, lion, and wolf. Each represents different aspect parts of Hell and block his route straying from the spiritual path he believes he was meant to walk. They lead him to the forest that is dark and uncertain. The black and whit portrait is of Virgil who helps lead him on thee dangerous journey through the forest.

The thee women are the three blessed women who oversee his journey. The Virgin Mary, Beatrice(his beloved), and St. Lucy. They provide assistance along the journey.

All of these images relate to historical exile in which he felt lost without purpose. Demonstrating the importance of faith when faced with endless limitations. He specific chose Virgil because of his expert wisdom, moral strength, and his own thoughts aligning.

All of these images represent Dante's Inferno, starting off, the dark forest is the path he goes down while being guided by the the man in the image (Virgil). He is also being helped by the saints and Beatrice shown in the images. The animals symbolize the beasts he encounters on his journey. These also represent Italy's history since Dante's work is strongly based off Italy's art and Christian theology.
