A system for universal background checks would mean that almost all types of firearms transactions would be recorded and the information about the buyer be checked out through it. Donald Trump isn’t clear if it’s necessary for people to proceed through a universal background check in order to own a fire arm. Biden thinks it is.

 

Should police departments be defunded, if not abolished?

Biden and Trump are against defunding police departments for mental health resources. Some supporters would support the police and others would combine it with other police reforms.

 

« Ban the box » is a law that prohibits employers from inquiring into the criminal backgrounds of job seekers. Opponents claim that this law would decrease the chances for people of color to find a job because they are more discriminated against. Both candidates are pro “ban the box”.

 

Should we end the cash bail system? In the United States the release on bail is allowed so the accused can pay a bail and he will be free while awaiting his trial contrary to the one who does not have the means to pay who will remain in prison. Trump is for bail while Biden is against it.

 

In the U. S., possession of assault weapons may be one of the weakest laws, but Donald Trump said he is starting a process that would check the background of people who want to buy an assault weapon. But whether in California, Florida or New Hampshire, the carrying of arms is guaranteed by the Second Amendment to the Constitution. Donald Trump is for it while Biden is against it.

 

In America 8.2% of the prison population are put in private prisons and 73% of detained immigrants are there. Biden is against the continuation of private imprisonment and Donald trump is for it.

At least 16 states and DCs offer a third driver’s license option and in 10 states people can choose “X” other than men and women on their birth certificate. Those who are opposed to the third sex say that this change is confusing: there are only two genders and each should use their gender. Joe BIDEN is for the "X" option on driver’s licenses but Donald TRUMP has no opinion.

LGBTQ+ people are being fired because they are LGBTQ+. On June 15, 2020 the Supreme Court ruled that a federal law protects LGBTQ+ employees from discrimination. Joe BIDEN is for this law but Donald TRUMP does not support it.

The government may or may not allow companies to refuse services to LGBTQ+ people in relation to their religions because the laws legally protect the religious beliefs of people. Donald TRUMP is in favour of companies not doing LGBTQ+ service, but Joe BIDEN is not. 

Transgender people do not have the right to change genders in the American army. Biden disagrees with this, Trump agrees.

The first aspect of the debate is the Keystone XL Pipeline. The Keystone XL pipeline is an 875-mile pipeline from Alberta that will take oil to terminals on the Gulf coast. Biden is against this project, but Trump is for it.
 

The second aspect of the debate is fracking. A mixture of water, sand and chemicals products are implanted in the earth. This process are used to bring oil and gas to the surface, but it causes fractures in the earth. Biden and Trump are in favor of this project.

 

The third aspect of the debate is about the Carbon tax. The climate is changed by greenhouse emissions and carbon dioxide. Governments impose a carbon tax on companies so that they produce less carbon and choose to invest in clean energy. Protecting the environment is important. Biden is for it and Trump does not position himself.

 

The fourth aspect of the debate is nuclear energy. The U.S has 98 nuclear reactors in thirty states. About 20% the country’s electricity and about 63% of carbon-free electricity come from nuclear energy. Biden and Trump are in favor of expanding the use of nuclear power.

 

The fifth aspect of the debate is the climate. The Green New Deal will help the U.S to manage the climate. Its objective are to reduce greenhouse gas, create jobs, access to drinking water, cleaning up the industry and stopping the oppressions of marginalized people. Trump is against this project, but Biden is for it.

 

And the last aspect of the debate is about the Paris climate agreement. The goal of the climate agreement is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in order to limit the increase in global temperature to 1,5 degrees this century. Trump is against this project, but Biden is for it.
