Rome controlled the whole Mediterranean world for many centuries. The buildings established Rome at the peak of its power. That included theaters, baths, temples, libraries, imperial palaces, basilicas or public meeting space, fora, and arenas for public events. The middle of the Roman city was the Forum, an arena of open space that served as the commercial and social center where people meet to socialize and businesses sold their goods. In the Late Republic period, they invented a new building material called concrete. You mix volcanic dust and lime mortar which makes a cement that hardens into concrete. They made Etruscan arches too. They used it as a single structure to build gateways in their fortification walls. A dome was created with several arches too. Those are just some though.

In the judical praetors are elected yearly by men voting who act like the Roman judges. Another branch is the legislative. It includes senate, asseblies of people and tribunes of people. In the senate 300 members served for life, they proposed the laws and advised the consul. Other citizens got to declare war or to agree to peace. People who are with the tributes of people are elected yearly by the assembly. They also protected the rights of the plebeians. The last branch is the executive. It includes 2 consuls which are elected yearly by voting men and they have the most "kingly" powers. It also includes other magistrates who are eleceted yearly by voting men too but they help the consuls with day to day busniss of government

Today we can see the columns and arches in many buildings. Some places are The White House, museums & bridges. Playhouse Square also has a dome shaped roof. In the movie Percy Jackson, the museum has columns too. We use concrete every where like side walks, buildings, roads, driveways, etc. The capiptal building has both a dome shaped roof and columns.

Christianity arose in Roman-occupied Judea and spread throughout the Roman Empire. The worship of God was impersonal and often practiced without emotion. Christianity grew when the empire grew. Later it emphasized a more personal relationship between God and people. Around 63 BC it spread to Judea. In 6 CE Rome took control over Jewish kingdom and made it province of the empire. God had promised that there will once be a savior called Messiah, would come and restore the kingdom. 2 decades later they believed that the savior has arrived. Christianity grew. It embraced all people--men and women, enslaved persons, the poor and nobles, gave hope to the powerless, etc. In 312 CE Constantine (the roman emperor) was fighting three rivals for the leadership of Rome. He ordered his soldiers to wear a cross on their shields because while he was praying for a safe return after the battle he saw an image of a cross flash in his mind. They were victorious in battle and he credited his success to the help of the Christian God. In 313 CE he declared Christianity to be one of the religions approved by the emperor. Christianity continued to gain strength, and in 380 CE, emperor Theodosius made it the empire’s official religion.
