  • Massive graves with most of the deaths caused by spears to the throat 
  • Many depictions showed war and writing talked of war
I believe that it was one of the two reasons
 
  • Outside threat that is bigger than the Mayans themselves and can jeopardize their land  
  • Religious reasons as the gods might have forced to spread their civilization

I believe that a civilization to fall, as first of they lose and that makes then lose all their resources and their home. They lost their people and may not be able to rebuild their civilization. War leads to changes that affect everyone as a whole and some may be not good.
