I am very privileged, straight white middle class male, there is no real handicap there. my life differs greatly to those of migrants. 

An example that I see personally is that theres people (many from migrant and lower socio ecconomic backgrounds) at my surf club who have needed to drop out of school to work full time to support their family. They say 'school isn't their thing' so they don't bother and finish early. 

However in terms of gender, in particular masculinity, it doesn't really put them lower than me. However, being the first male born in the Asian family often attract more expectation from both family and society. Gender also effects my personal actions such as the way I dress, how I do my hair, etc. Largely due to how my society perceives women and how I act to align with societal gender norms. This is different than migrant's because they also might struggle with discrimination regarding visa policies such as not being able to work in high paying jobs or not being able to get pregnant while on a visa. This also results in many health issues and creates more difficulties for migrants women. Class on the other hand does not seem to have a major effect on me however it does for migrants. Back in my home country, I am classified as part of the upper class, where I am privileged enough to have access to numerous opportunities. However, moving here has placed me in a position where I can be classified as middle class, where I do not have full access to all the opportunities such as working rights. 

Back in my home country, the concept of gender is still taken very traditionally where females are placed in a much more vulnerable position than males. Culturally, there are many belies that dictate how women should act and behave. Most of Chinese parents from middle to upper class will choose to send their children to study abroad especially in their university . They want their children to broaden their horizons. For me, my parents give me financial support to get higher and better education abroad so I have different experiences and education from my Chinese peers.
From the class perspective, middle-class students like me， will live a relatively frugal life in Australia . For upper-class students, however, they may have more financial support from their family . Therefore, they will have more opportunities to explore this country and can be more ample in life. There are not many immigrants in Indonesia, so I can only compare my experiences to those of different classes and genders. Chinese Indonesians, from middle to high class, live a prestigious live because they dominated the business sector in Indonesia. Most of us also reside in big cities like Jakarta or Tangerang because our families are capable to meet the financial needs.

Ever since we were little, we were always taught that the natives (pribumi) are low-wage or domestic workers, positioning ourselves above the native despite our own status and stereotypes of being immigrants. Sadly, what they said was true; most low-class workers in Indonesia (e.g. waiters, tradies, cleaning services) are natives, while Chinese Indonesians own the businesses. Therefore, class also affects my social life. I was told to not get too close with my native friends because they are different and getting along with them will somehow lower down my class. I was also told to only get along with Chinese Indonesians who are also rich. It affected my education as well -- my parents put me in elite private schools because public schools/universities are dominated by native students.  

From my own experiences I learned that it's an irony to see the host society's struggle twice, even thrice harder than what we, 'immigrants', did. Sometimes race doesn't really matter in a country with strong capitalistic system. Men are often given more job opportunities than women, and also have more privilege because of their gender. However, as my family comes from a middle class socio-economic background, I also have privilege compared to those with a lower socio-economic status, as it allows to me to access opportunities such as getting an education
