Artificial intelligence is evolving every passing day and it is a big shift in the current education system. Hence, it is worth thinking about how it will impact students and the education system. I have had an opportunity to attend a webinar on Academic integrity responding to advances in Artificial Intelligence. As a university tutor, I feel it is vital for me to develop more understanding of what these tools are, how they work, their impact on education and how we can respond to these. Particularly I found this webinar very useful and interesting in helping me develop my understanding of how to detect inappropriate use of AI tools using various detection tools such as GPT Zero, Turnitin, Crossplag, Compilation etc. The webinar gave me a deeper insight into what is academic misconduct and the different categories of AI tools that students can use to complete their assignments. It was interesting to understand how each tool works and for specific requirements. However, I felt it is challenging to identify the work generated using these AI tools. The webinar highlighted some of the steps the university is currently taking in response to this. It is advised to develop more understanding of AI tools, invite guest speakers, try tools, generate guidance for students and staff, making changes to university education. One of the ways to detect the use of AI tools by students can be by creating a checklist, the list can include a lack of criticality in work, largely factual information included, irrelevant references etc. Finally, it was also advised that clear guidance must be created for students on what type of tools they may /may not use and why it is inappropriate to use these tools, students should be advised failure to follow this guidance may lead to allegations of academic misconduct.

I found this webinar very interesting and helpful to make my own teaching accessible and inclusive. Considering that most of my students are international students with diverse backgrounds I need to ensure my teaching is inclusive. It is also one of the objectives of Coventry university group Curriculum 2025. This course helped me understand how as teachers we can make full use of available resources to make our teaching inclusive. For example One of the strategies proposed which I would like to try is recording lectures with captions using technologies such as Zoom and teams. This would be helpful for students for whom English is an additional language and accommodate both online and offline students. Another thing we can do to enhance inclusivity is to make the teaching and course material accessible. This can be achieved by keeping Aula pages updated, timely communication with students regarding teaching and teaching material etc. Finally, support in the access of physical campus.

Every semester there are quite a few numbers of Academic misconduct cases we get in our cohort and as a tutor it is essential for me to understand what exactly ACO means and when the case should be referred and the process. The webinar helped me understand the different definitions of Academic misconduct which gave me deeper insight of the notion. According to the definitions academic misconduct includes ethical misconduct, copying from other students, collusion, impersonation, plagiarism, contract cheating, work written by third party, self-plagiarism, falsification or fabrication, misinterpretation, using AI tools to complete work etc. The webinar familiarised me with several strategies and different ways to detect academic misconduct and this would help us to gather evidence to present in the ACO meetings. Some of the evidence could be the Turnitin reports, authorship report, language use, vocabulary, low student engagement scores etc. As I have not attended any ACO meetings so far, the webinar was helpful to understand the process to gather and present the evidence at ACO meetings. Furthermore, the role of the academic staff was explained, it is vital for staff to understand and follow the strategy, regulations, and procedures, provide students with education, guidance on academic integrity, before raising a case it is good to consult with ACO, ACP if unsure about the case, attend training, staff development, updates and reminders etc. It was advised that for Poor academic practice (PAP) cases it is essential to provide appropriate guidance to students and ask them to attend the academic integrity workshops. And minor, moderately serious and serious cases must be formally reported. If the case is not reported the students will continue to make same mistakes. Finally, several activities can be included in the induction sessions and other sessions to educate students on academic integrity.

Considering majority of my students are international students and assessments are new experience for them, it is essential for me to use effective strategies to develop their assessment literacy to enhance their assessment experience and outcome. I had an opportunity to attend this interesting and engaging webinar which enabled me critically to reflect on my assessment and feedback practices and helped me identify gaps in my practice. The session was engaging and interactive and made me aware of different useful strategies and steps a tutor can follow during the launch and follow up sessions to support students develop assessment literacy. It was particularly helpful to understand the feedback shared by students focus group regarding their assessment and feedback experience. And I believe it is important to know how students want to learn. As advised in the webinar I do consider using different group activities to unpack the assessment task and process with student. However, I would like to run some marking exercises in future using exemplars and model answers using rubric and criteria to familiarise students with the assessment criteria. It was interesting to know some great tips to develop feedback literacy of students after they receive their feedback as students’ disengagement with feedback is a major issue in my cohort. In future I would organise a session after students get their grades and feedback where I will help them understand their feedback and I will ask them to develop an action plan for their future assignments. Furthermore, I learned that assessment brief should be student friendly and I would like to record some short videos on assignment brief and assignment guidance and will upload it on AULA along with other resources. This would be easy and engaging for students.
