Mouth: "The Great Society is not a safe harbor, a resting place, a final objective, a finished work. It is a challenge constantly renewed..." Eyes: LBJ's vision was to create a more advanced American civilization addressing the problems of poverty, race relations, and other environmental aspects. He has many plans to improve the country. Achilles heal: with the growing population, it is going to be hard to improve the lives of everyone within the nation as well as choose on which area to focus on first whether it is the poverty or the environment.

Jakob: I totally agree with what his downfall could be. I wrote similarly that he would have issues having complete agreement and addressing all the issues effectively in action.

Audrey-- I agree with your interpretation of his vision. He didn't just want to improve one area of society. Instead he was focused on making changes to all parts just like you mentioned.

mouth: "The great Society rests on the abundance and liberty for all." This means that Johnson is looking to making things equal for all Americans and end all injustice that may lie in our society that will prohibit us from being the "Great Society" he eludes to so much in his speech.
Eyes: Johnson vision is too attack urban and rural development while making sure education is prioritized to create a better society. When Johnson says "great society" he really means a well rounded and equal society in which everyone is able to work together
Achilles Heel: Problems

Nick: Bernard I agree with your thoughts on Johnson's vision. Overall, I think that he wants to increase the standard of living of Americans, and the quote you picked reflects that.

A lot of people in American society want resolution with their own specific issues, but might not work for those effected by other life aspects. It's going to be hard to get everyone in the country on board with this utopian ideal, and even then that utopia could still damage/conflict with someone's lifestyle.

But that is just the beginning"
Eyes: The "Great Society" is representing the future or American society, and that we should strive to find perfecting in motion, not in resolution.
Achilles Heel: The challenge is more of his ability to get people together rather than addressing each and every need that the people are demanding. The people of America are very polarized when it comes to social values and norms, so total agreement will be difficult to maintain/ create.

Hannah: I agree that it is challenging to try and get everything he wanted to do, accomplished. Especially with the state that the country was in at that time.
Savannah: I agree with you. LBJ's goals were mainly to improve society. I also agree the problems we could face would include people

Mychaela: Jakob, I thought the quotation you selected was appropriate because it showed the LBJ believed that the changes we would make to America during his presidency would only be the beginning. There are so many ways we could make the nation a better place for the people living in it and the "great society" programs were a good start to his goals.

I agree with what you said LBJ's vision for the country was because there are changes that are needed to make progress as well as improvements. I also agree with he weaknesses you saw his vision. LBJ had to get the legislation to pass to make the changes he thought were best for the country.

Andrea-- I agree with you. Attempting to enforce this legislation would have difficulties, especially since

Isabella: I agree that a struggle of LBJś plan is enforcing it because it would be extremely difficult to put an end to racism and poverty, since there isn´t a good way to enforce it.

Additionally, there is the subject of pollution and its potentially destructive effects on the nation-- it is something that must be dealt with.

Audrey--I definitely agree that a major challenge would be enforcement of the new legislation because it was hard to create strict regulations that would actually be followed
Margaret: Education is a big problem, in addition LBJ also has to face the major racial tension and civil rights movements in order for society to work together towards he future.

Such as the cities, countryside and classrooms. I think this is a lot try and do at once, and Johnson is trying to have society be prepared for the future. So, the time frame is not adequately
created.
Margaret: I agree with you, LBJ has bitten off a little more than he can chew almost wants society to be perfect. This helps demonstrate the emphasis on education and social reform that Johnson was seeking, and what he would like the result to be.
Eyes: Johnson wants an America with less poverty, to be achieved by giving more opportunities in education and fair employment.
Achilles Heel: He wants to reform education, but has no real method to divide good schools from bad, and no great solution other than to throw money at the problem.

Connor: I agree with you Kyle that he does have a good vision for America, however, doesn´t really have any concrete way of executing this plan. It instead remains very broad in that aspect.

Zack: I agree with you that his vision is to provide fair education for everyone and that is like my post in the fact that he wants to see a high quality standard in the workforce so education and skills are needed to achieve that goal.
