I teach in a Primary school, last year I teach in a 5th class. I used a real work with my students. 
My project about the use of Maths in the real world : asking students to organize a trip through three Italy's regions. They have to calculate the costs of the trip from Rome to Aosta. from Aosta to Milan, from Milan to Verona and from Verona to Rome. They have to calcilate the costs of hoterls, restaurants, tichets for museum, castles, for tour guides, too. 
Maths skills of these project:
-Money
-Read and understand the instruction
-Research on Internet
-Making calculations 
-release a brochure
-Present the project
I think it would be a funny and engaging experience. This is a way showing my students how they are surrounded by Math every day. Pratical activities stimulates the students and bring them to reflection.
I think this is a good and useful way to approach Maths  and improve students' skills.

I send on my virtual class some videos. They're songs on shapes. The pupils see them and in classroom we work in groups: they use various geometric figures and saying what resemble, for example a circle is a pizza, a square is a picture... 
Then have to make up a story that has as characters and elements what they have seen in the geometric figures .

 Next year I have taught in a fifth class, I open a virtual class on Edmodo. I send videos with explanations on Edmodo to my pupils. They studied at home and then the next day they could discuss with their classmates and asked explanations me. I used jigsaw and cooperative learning. I asked my students working in pair or in groups. 

 New technology and cooperative learning are very important tool improving skills and knowledges, but self assessment and formative assessment are important too. 

 I think this course is very interesting. I have discovered a lot of tools and resources   very useful for my job.

Elisa Ciontoli, ItalyThe flipped classroom is a method that I've used in Italian and I think that may well be also used in mathematics, but not in classes of primary school because they must first learn the basic rules of mathematics and then the lesson upside down.
