This song is about a beautiful and fashionable woman who married an older, richer man for his money. She marries a man not out of love but out of wealth and is not happy with this relationship. She is seen as a beauty trapped within the confines of wealth without happiness, freedom, or contentment.
This song is a reflection of the new millennium's rise of materialism. It represents the prosperity and economic rise of the United States in 1900 and how riches affected people at the time.

The woman in the relationship is saying that the man is going to miss her when he is gone from her. It also tells how both will have feelings of loss and loneliness when they are not together.
Some of These Days is a reflection of the changing time during this decade. The 1910's was a decade of great change and the song reflects these changes and how some viewed previous days with melancholy in the face of these new and changing times.

How her beauty compares to the natural beauty of the world and that there is nothing like her. There are other meanings that are more sexual and are more aligned with the typical subject The Rolling Stones sing about.
This song and the music represents a tone shift that came with the 60's and the rise of a counterculture. It displays the typical nature of this counterculture of color and love which is more recognized as a hippie culture.

This Paul Simon classic is about a pair of parents seeing something they should not have seen, something possibly illegal and sexual, that caused a lot of commotion for the narrator and Julio even placing the narrator under arrest. This song tells the story of this event and the narrator unknowing of what his future will be as he leaves after being released by the radical priest.
This song is representative of the continued existence and prominence of American counterculture that was born from the 60's and stretched through most of the 70's. Its subject and a possible reference to homosexuality are related to the sexual openness of this time period.

This Charming Man is a song about a young, poor boy being enticed by an older, richer man offering him a more "comfortable" life as a reference through the lyrics "Why Pamper Life's complexities When the leather runs smooth on the passenger seat." There is also a sexual undertone throughout the song that seems to hint that the Older man is attracted to the younger boy. This is seen with the lines "This man said, 'It's gruesome that someone so handsome should care.'" It is saying that the older man thinks the boy is so attractive that he need not worry about what to wear.
This song is reflective of the eighties culture and the change in the definition of masculinity. Through the eighties, there was a push for a more androgynous and less uber-masculine definition of what it means to be a man and this sing displays that through its first lines, asking will nature make a man of him yet. It also challenges the definition through the ambiguousness surrounding the narrators and singers sexuality.

During the conception of the song, the singer was having suicidal thoughts and in a depressed state. The guy is ready to end the relationship which explains the Bye, Bye, Bye.
This song represents the rise of Pop music in the 2000's and the continue the trend of overproduced music with little meaning behind them. This song is a Boy Band Song, an at the time this was a very popular kind of music with masses of teenage girls flocking to see these kinds of bands perform. Throughout the 2000's there was a massive influx of pop and hip-hop songs and this was part of the beginning of that.

Step by Vampire Weekend is a love song for music, it is about the relationship we have to music and the overprotected nature some of us have over the music we listen to ourselves. It is also about the many musical influences the band has adopted over the years. It is about in some way you make the music your listening to yours and establish such a deep connection to it. The girl that is mentioned throughout the song is music.
Since We have not yet exited the 2010's just yet, there is no way to truly tell how well this song represents the 2010's. But this song does represent the rise and growth of Indie music in recent times and the overprotective nature of people in recent times. This overprotectiveness has become present in different forms throughout the years and has manifested in different ways like the almost zealous protectiveness many Americans have of the country in regards to immigration. Truly the girl in the song, can be replaced with anything that has meaning to you and the message will still be the same.
