One of the causes of cancer is genetics. Change in the order of DNA  can change a normal cell to a cancer cell. It's spread through many people becuase they can inhert the DNA of their parents. 

Other cause is UV, cancer is related to the amount of time a person is exposed to UV, if the person is exposed too much to UV it may cause skin caner.

There are many types of cancer treatments. Avoiding carcinogens is one of them. It can reduce the risk of cancer. One example is tobacco that is found in cegerates.
