stage 1- the demand e.g penalty in the last minute of the game.
stage 2- how the athlete views the demand e.g positive or negative, this will affect how you view the demand, as a challenge or as a threat.
stage 3- arousal levels e.g eustress or distress, eustress will give you increased motivation whereas distress will give you worries about the demand.
stage 4- the outcome e.g better or worsened performance

Positive- when your team win a game due to being focused ad training hard in training before the game.
Negative- getting injured in a pre-season game that will affect you by not being able to play at the start of the season.
Positive+Negative- winning a game but not performing as well as you would like to have done.
Trait Anxiety- someone with a high level of trait anxiety would find situations worrying even when they aren't as threatening. For example, a striker may feel worried about a 1v1 situation whereas the goalkeeper may feel less worried about the situation.
State Anxiety- this is a temporary state of your mood which will change depending on the situation the athlete is in that is considered threatening. For example, at the start of a football match you would experience high anxiety as you are preparing for the game. You would experience low anxiety during the game and then high during the closing stages.

stage 1 demand- so this is where a demand or task comes up for you to do. so a heavy deadlift

stage 2 perception of demand- this is how to athlete would see the demand and there and then decide whether they are going to take it as a challenge or as a threat. so some people when going for the deadlift would be worried if they get hurt or if they cant do it this would be looking at it as a threat. but someone who takes it as a challenge would be someone who doesn't care about the injury risk or not being able to do it.

stage 3 increase arousal levels- this would be where the performer would either be eustress which would be the person who takes the challenge as a challenge. or the performer would take it as distress this is because they would worry and this performer would be the one who takes the challenge as a threat.

stage 4 outcome- so the positive performer would perform way better than the performer who is negative about the situation and they would be way to nervous to perform at half of their best.

the most stress I have every been was the first time I did a free weight bench press and as a lifted the bar up with 5kg on each side and I started to get really nevous and I forgot to breath because I was stressed about it crushing my chest and I couldn't lift the bar up because I wasn't breathing but that was just led than 2 years ago.

a positive way I take stress is when I have to go for a personal best on deadlifting this is because I purposefully make my self stressed because I have trained my self to embrace the stress and use it for my personal gain so I perform better.

where I have used both types of stress is when I do high inanity training and it gets me nervous because I have low cardio levels naturely and I struggle to get better cardio so I wont b able to do as well but I still use all my strength and I focus on the goal.

anxiety:
I don't get this and I haven't had this in years but if I had to link it to how people would before I would say that the performer who is usualy laid back and very calm with the situation wont before better than the performer who has high anxiety levels this is because I believe you don't perform better or worst if you suffer from anxiety I do believe the mental part but I don't think it effects you physically with your performance other than your blood rate and how oxygenised your muscles are. but with research the person who suffers worst with anxiety it would make them doubt them self in most situations

The first task is a demand, and this could be the last 400m of race, the last lap, (1500M) and as a result, you have to take this opportunity on. As a result, the demand by the athlete can be taken either positively, which is good, or negatively which could be a threat. Higher arousal levels take place and in the last lap, the person can either take the opportunity on depending on how they're feeling. Eustress will result in a strong finish, and this is because the increase of motivation and the additional form of energy will help the individual to push and finish a successful race. This 4th outcome can be known as an 'increased performance'. On the other hand, if this causes a setback for the individual, then this can cause distress and nothing but increased anxiety which won't help the individual to finish the race positively by finishing well and the thought of anxiety will hold them back without no motivation because it's lacking and can cause a 'reduced performance'.

1) Positive scenario of anxiety- 1 positive scenario of anxiety could involve someone that's been through experiences where nerves kick in before, but they find positive thoughts out of it which links to eustress because of that increased motivation. So, as of now, I would say before I'm running, I take positive thoughts out of the race because I've been through situations in the past where I wouldn't have been so confident where I wouldn't know what to expect.
Negative thoughts regarding myself will show I'll have no energy, drive and anxiety to do things. This would regard my first cross-country race I ever did, as I doubts over things whether I could complete the race or do well.

Trait anxiety- This could regard two players who individually, are the two best players on the pitch and they're both under pressure to score a last minute goal. It results in performers to feel worried in a variety of situations even if they aren't threatening. An example in regards to myself would be a penalty-shoot out that I experienced in the past. With the score being level at 4-4 and at sudden death, I noticed myself and someone similar to me were the last two penalty takers at the fifth attempt. As a result, I came out on top, however, no matter the situation, there was always a thought of worry in my head, especially in this scenario.

State anxiety- Currently, I would say state anxiety is the most ideal for me. During a race, I tend to feel nervous despite at the start of the race and my intensity would be slow but high levels of state anxiety would still occur. During the race, I would start to feel a little bit more comfortable and my anxiety would decrease. Finally, if it regards a situation where there's a 50/50 chance with me trying to secure a top 15 finish, then extreme high levels of anxiety will occur throughout the next 30 odd seconds of the race.

the first stage is where a demand is put on you and you will have to perform. for example, in the NBA playoff game 7 which will mean if you lose, you will be eliminated. stage 2 is where you either percieve this demand as negative or positive. negative would mean that this challenge is way too much for you and you think you wont be able to do it and positive is where you will look at the challenge as a positive one and think that you will be able to overcome the challenge. stage three is where the increased arousal will kick in. for example, the negative high arousal will make you stressed and all panicked however the positive arousal will make you feel full of adrenaline and feel sharper in your sport. finally, stage 4 is the effect on your performance which differs when it comes to positive and negative. when its positive it helps the performance and when its negative it decreases performance.
