In the book Rules, in chapter 2, the main character went to the clinic, and she draws a kid with a disease, but his mother catches her and makes her feel bad. Then the main character draws a room, and the sick boy likes it. She gives the picture to his mother to give to him, and while she's ripping the page out, her pencils fall. Shortly after this scenario, the main characters brother, David, runs out of the appointment room but his mother stops him before he gets out of the building. When they get in the car, the main characters mother tells her it was nice to give the boy a picture.
