Classics Of Disney Movies - Sierra Urena Period 7 by Sierra Urena

Disney Movies have been around for many years. They’ve evolved over time to be amazing in animation, sparkling in the eyes of many children across the world. Not only children have come to love Disney movies, but people of a variety of ages have warmed up to them. They have shaped many of adults child hoods, bringing joy and magic to life. Things as far as products and an amusement park have been put together composing of all characters animators have created. They’ve made an impact. Things that could never happen in the world we live in, happen in these movies. That’s the beauty of them all. We experience unimaginable events take place only for them to become a reality right before our eyes on the TV screen. Princesses, princess, animals, and many others have found its way into the hearts of the people. Below I've composed a list myself of the top 10 canon Disney movies. Each specifically containing its own unique trait that makes it special. Things as far as awards, specials features, messages, themes and etc. are all apart of my list along with pictures. Disney movies have been around for as long as 1937, giving them plenty of time to make a real change and impact.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is worthy of being on my Disney Movie canon list because, as many know, it is the very first Disney film created. Released in 1938, it has made a lifetime gross of $184,925,485 and about $2,000,000 in the box office. On IMDb it received a 7.6 out of 10, 8.8 on Rotten Tomatoes, and an 88% by Google Users. The review scores themselves are pretty high in rating. The reason it most takes its place on the canon list, the reason it's portrayed to be so special is, it introduced a whole new chapter of not only Disney movies but of Disney princesses.

Disney's 1989 mermaid film, The Little Mermaid has brought magic out of the water, literally. With a gross of $109,859,444 in the US, $99,800,000 in foreign gross and $40,000,000 in the box office. Along with an outstanding score of 92% on Rotten tomatoes. There is a first for everything, in this case, not for being the first Disney movie but, according to Buzzfeed, "The Little Mermaid was the first to be structured like a traditional movie musical." This animation has changed the game. Another good thing about the Little Mermaid is, it displays different aspects of life and measures curiosity beyond what we have and where we are.

The film where everyday objects, in that time period, came to life, where a beast was once a man, and a girl grew to love him. The classic Beauty and the Beast. The 1991 movie was nominated Best Picture at the Academy Awards. It was actually the FIRST animated film to be nominated for that award. Although they did not win, you have to give them credit for achieving the film that far. There is almost an endless amount of awards the film has won. Some being an Academy Award for Best Music, Original Song and winning The Golden Globes for Best Original Song, Score, and Motion Picture. The numbers say it all. Beauty and the beast has made a lifetime gross of $218,967,620 in the US alone. In foreign countries it has made about $206,000,000. Not to mention a score of 8 out of 10 on IMDb. Also, on March 17, Disney will be releasing a new movie in theaters with real actors to reenact the classic Beauty and the Beast. Seeing as to how they will be making a real life film based of the movie, it shows its past success and the urge to remake another. In other words, the film was such a success, why not create a non animated version to bring the animated version to life. The accomplishments the movie has made, the impact its made, are grand.

This films number in box office gross is $145,771,527 in the US and a has a 7.2 out of 10 rating on IMDb. But I've placed this film on the list because it deserves more credit than it receives. It deserves higher numbers than it has received. It has gained some awards such as the ASCAP Film and Television Music Awards for Top Box Office Films and others, which is an outstanding award well given. But, every other film has won awards as well and awards are besides the point, in this case.
"Ohana means family. Family means no one gets left behind." The famous phrase is another like Frozen's "Let it Go," often repetitive through out the world and well known. The lines message is heartwarming and has a powerful message. The 2002 picture has a meaning of no other. It focuses on the love of family, staying strong, and continuing on together. I feel this message is super important for, especially kids, to obtain.

2013's recent Disney princess motion picture has had a big hit. Considering it is recent, it still was a major success. The films "Let it Go" catch phrase has spiraled every where since it came out. Along with parodies all over YouTube. Searching on YouTube's search bar for Frozen Parody's will give you hundreds of videos regarding the line. Not to mention Elsa, practically the main character, has blown up on YouTube for not only parody's but none other than makeup tutorials. Even YouTubers with larger subscriber numbers such as, dope2111 and Glam&Gore, have set forth to create a similar look to Elsa's appearance. Lets talk numbers. Since the film is pretty recent the IMDb the rating score is a 7.5 and 7.7 on Rotten Tomatoes. Their gross box office profits, even higher than some older Disney films, with a number of $400,736,600. Also, accepting many awards varying from Best Animated Female to Best Animated Film in 2014. Just because a film receives an award, doesn't mean it deserves to be placed on the canon list. But, it depends on the awards your selecting. Awards that hold a huge meaning or are from Major Award shows, gives it a spot on the list as Classic Disney Movie Canons.

This motion picture was fortunate enough to have Robin Williams, who passed away August 2014, as a voice over for the genie. I feel this particular set of information was key to adding it to the list. Seeing to how he was a great actor and comedian in many of his past films. He was the last puzzle piece to complete this film. Numbers once again at a good stance, standing at $217,350,219 in box office gross. It received an 8 out of 10, higher than most so far, on IMDb. Aladdin won A Grammy Award for up to five reasons, one being, "Song of the Year." Others have also been accepted from different award shows for different qualities.

Tangled, a transformed, updated film of Rapunzel, leads off with 7.8 on IMDb and a 7.5 on Rotten Tomatoes. On YouTube the trailer for the movie has more than 7 million views with hundreds, maybe even thousands, of positive comments below the short trailer clip.
The thing I find quite intriguing and special about this film is the roles being reversed. In classic Disney Princess Movies the prince is usually the one to play as a hero and save the day. In this case, Rapunzel plays a major role in saying Fin's life and being the hero. I admire the film using a female portrayed as such a strong character showing us females can save the day too.

Having a Princess of color and portraying her as woman full of perseverance is an amazing thing. Teaching kids and others to never stop reaching for your dreams. The message should be taught and understood by all kids and hopefully those who have experienced this film got the idea. It deserves more recognition from the public as Frozen and Tangled has and has received. IMDb shows a box office gross $104,374,107 for this princess movie and a rating of 7.1

The Cinderella 1950's film didn't make as much as I anticipated with $34,100,000 in the box office, according to IMDb. But, what is amazing about the film is it's the basis and main plot line for other Cinderella movies created out there. Blended beautifully with magic, love, and friendship, it makes the perfect balance. As well as Beauty and the Beast, as mentioned before, Disney had set out to direct and film and real version of the story in 2015. They felt the movie was a classic and was important enough to repeat and recreate a non animated movie, showing the significance of the first Disney's Cinderella. Of course it has it twists, turns and differences but it continues to go along the lines of the original film by Disney. Cinderella is a classic, and many know the story and movie by heart.

It has won many awards in the category of Best Music to Best Animated Voice over from Academy Awards, The Annie Awards and The Casting Society of America. Also receiving an 8.3 in average rating by Rotten Tomatoes and an 8.5 on IMDb.
