This book was written because of his son Haley. When Rick told him bedtime stories he used myths from Greek Mythology. When those ran out he came up with Percy Jackson's character and he decided to write the novel.

Rick Riordan's books are written with a good sense of humor with lovable characters you get close to.

Not only it is lighthearted and funny but it also teaches you so many things about Greek, Egyptian, Roman or even Nordic mythology.

The amazing part is that you don't even notice it that you've learnt it until you come across something connected to the topic.

For me Rick Riordan books formed my childhood. I have read all of his larger book series, still my favourite was Percy Jackson which I've probably read around 5-6 times. (When I was 11 I was fully prepared to be taken away to The Half Blood camp.)

These books inspired me to write and they made me curious for mythologies and ever since then I've expanded my knowledge in these areas.
