All kinds of learner.

What’s good about it? It’s creative, user-friendly and alluring. The artwork is beautiful and may inspire even people who are not into writing. The fact that users can share their work and comment on other people’s work is another highlight.

Possible disadvantages: At first, some students might be a reluctant to start writing, especially those who think they aren’t creative enough. Later, they may also try to compare their work, which might discourage them too.

Would you recommend it? Yes, definitely. I think it can be an interesting way to encourage students to write. I think the best way to develop the ability to learn another language is by hearing other's speak it and trying as well to revise your knowledge by using the words learned in simple verb and prose situations.

They are accompanied by a written script which enables the learner to listen to the audio and follow the words as they are spoken. There is a follow on Exercise where the learner can listen again and fill in the missing words within the text. This enhances the learners listening skill as well as teaching spelling/writing. There are also quite a variety of other activities such as multiple choice questions, drag & match a word to the meaning, a role playing with a partner option & watching a video then answering questions on what was said. Randal also includes idioms relating to the topic chosen & gives an explanation of the meaning. An applause sound when a correct answer is given is novel.
Possible disadvantages | I tried out the beginner level but I wouldn’t expect a complete beginner to understand some of the words highlighted. The site is a little jumbled/busy so one has to get used to using it. Some of the Topics are not suitable for complete beginners & don’t cover enough basic grammar.
Would you recommend it? Why/Why not? | I’d recommend it for someone who wants to try a little extra curricula but not to be used continually. It needs to be more structured.

I would set an exercise for them to make a story using this web but without using any text. Grouped in pairs they would then have to exchange their comics and write a story that matches the image. If the level of the learners is high enough they could even add a list of words that the other person has to include in their story.
Possible disadvantages: Using this in class would depend on whether they have access to computers or other devices. This could be solved by either ask for the comic as part of the homework or having the teacher do one during class and maybe project it so learners can suggest parts of the story.
Would you recommend it? It's a fun activity to do and you could get very different stories with diverse vocabulary.

https://tedxesl.com/2014/01/15/rodrigo-canales-the-deadly-genius-of-drug-cartels-2/#more-74 Rodrigo Canales: The Deadly Genius of Drug Cartels tedxesl.com – lessons based around Ted TalksType of activity: listening What kind of learner is it for?: upper intermediate What’s good about it?: This TED talk does not have subtitles but a transcript is provided. The learners therefore focus on listening to gain understanding, rather than translating words seen on screen. The speaker has very clear pronunciation and speaks at a steady pace. Most of the names and places referenced are Mexican and are delivered in a Mexican accent – this provides a good example of how we recognise which words are proper nouns when they are spoken in context e.g. we recognise them by what vocabulary becomes before or after, even if we are unfamiliar with the sound of the proper noun itself. The lesson plan provided is extremely helpful. Would you recommend it? Yes. It is an engaging subject and one that affects all societies. It is a subject that many people have strong opinions about.Possible disadvantages? The talk itself is fairly lengthy at 17 mins. It would be important to prep the class by covering useful vocabulary before the activity. The talk could be divided into 3 parts – after each 5 minutes, pause and discuss before moving on.
