         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Aristocrats were rich landowners that took over the power and this government is also called an Oligarchy. The Aristocrats dominated the Athenian society, the riches men ran in town ran the city's economy they also served as generals and judges, common people had little say in the government.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Because the Aristocrats weren't pleased with the rules they wanted a new government.  So in 546 B.C Pisistratus over threw the Oligarchy and he became the ruler of the Athens. He was also called the Tyrant which means a leader who held power through the use of force, today it means a leader who is harsh.Tyrants were able to stay in power because they had a strong army and people supported them. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In 600s B.C a group of rebels tried to overthrow the Aristocrats but it didn't work, however a man named Draco created a new set of laws for the Athens and they were harsh. During this they had very harsh laws but Solon created a set of laws that weren't as harsh. And it helped some men become citizens. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Peisistratus brought peace and prosperity to the city. He then began new policies meant to unify the city. He created new festivals and built temples and monuments. During his rule, many improvements were made in Athens. After he died his son took over as Tyrant. Many Aristocrats however were unhappy because there power was gone. But they got mad and finally got their power back.</div>]]></description>
