Folk music also played as a big role in 1960s pop culture. Bob Dylan gained fame through his unique nasal vocal style and political folk ballads. He made influence to the folk music in America in 1960s when he changed to play electric guitar in 1965. It could be said the most successful of the folk music.
Motown was formed at the time that American society deeply divided racially; however, it brought joy both black and white audiences. Music could share the emotion for everyone that no matter they were.

Lite Brite was one of many toys from the 60s. It was a way to color with light. Joseph M. Burck invented the Lite Brite in 1967. The toy was released by Hasbro. The Lite Brite toy came with black paper, a light box, and with small colorful pegs. There was eight different color pegs: red, blue, orange, green, pink, purple, white, and yellow and you had to have three triple A batteries. We still have Lite Brite now but over the years they have made a flat screen version, a 3d cube, and a fx edition that spins and plays music.

According to IMDB, these are some of the biggest celebrities of the 1960's and a small note about their lasting impact on pop culture:
1. John Wayne- I grew up in a household that loved westerns. Obviously, this means that I've known who John Wayne was since I was old enough to talk. Movies such as "True Grit", "The Sons of Katie Elder", and "The Shootist" left his long, tall shadow on Hollywood years after his death in 1979.
2. Truman Capote- Author of "In Cold Blood" and "Breakfast at Tiffany's". Was a mainstay in the Hollywood "in crowd". Also spent his childhood in Monroeville, Alabama.
3. Andy Warhol- Famous Pop artist. Took a photograph of a can of Campbell's Chicken Noodle Soup.
4. Jimi Hendrix- Pioneered a new, psychadelic sound. Used Wah-wah peddles and reverb to make music for the first time.
5. Janis Joplin- Folk rocker. "Piece of My Heart" is better than "Bobby McGee". Don't fight me on this.
6. Iron Butterfly- While probably not as well-known as other members of this list, they were pioneers of heavy metal and one of the most important rock acts of the early 60's. Their song "In-a-gada-da-vida" is listed as the 24th most important rock song of all time, according to VH1.

The domestic auto market saw a level of growth and success in the 1960's and 70's that was expected to last forever.
Chevrolet: Chevrolet started the decade with the Impala as its best seller, then released the Stingray, a new take on the Corvette, and finally finished the decade with a line of successful muscle cars. These included Chevelle, Nova, and the Camaro. All were available in a SS-326 or 350 package, but only the Camaro was chosen to compete with the Mustang and given the Z/28 package.
Ford: Ford began the decade with the Falcon as its best seller. Then came the Galaxy, the Fairlane, and so on. The trend of popular economy sedans came to a screeching halt when the Ford Motor Company introduced the Mustang. The 1966 Mustang Coupe is, to this day, the most popular model of Mustang, having sold 607,000 by the end of the model year. in 1969, Ford introduced the Mach 1, which I only mention because my grandmother owned one with a 428 Cobra Jet engine for almost two decades.
Dodge/Plymouth: Known now for making absurd cars that nobody else would consider making for the road, they started the decade with a small lineup that included the likes of the Dart and the Plymouth Fury. These quickly gave way to the more powerful, more intimidating Coronet and Charger, and the mind-boggling RoadRunner and Barracuda.
Pontiac: It's easy to forget that this was once the big brother in the GM family. Their 1964 GTO is considered the first "Muscle Car". This car and other models, including the Trans Am and Firebird became instant classics.

The word “hippie” likely evolved from hipster (hip/hep), kind of a transition between beatnik and hippie.

It wasn’t until late in ’65 that the first Acid Test was held, and in ’67 the Human Be-In and the summer of love really brought awareness of hippie culture into the mainstream. Woodstock didn’t happen until ’69 and that music is what most people likely associate with “hippie.”

But before that was blues, and jazz and folk, which Dylan shook that up with that electric guitar at Newport in ‘65.
When we talked about hippie, we think of bellbottom jeans, bells, rainbow colored skies and the summer of '67'.

"Hippie fashion represented a rebellion against consumerism and the clothes and accessories were often handmade or purchased from flea markets. The style featured long "maxi" skirts, bell-bottomed jeans, flowing fabric tops, peasant blouses, paisleys, florals, bright tie-dyes, and Eastern, Indian, Native American, and African motifs. Sandals were the footwear of choice for men and women and long hair was encouraged. The conventional rules for presenting oneself were wholly shunned and men sported long, unkempt beards with their long hair. Hippie women rejected make-up and revolted against the restricting shape-wear garments like girdles, padded bras, nylons and controllers that had been considered the norm for the previous decades. Overall the the fashion of the hippie counterculture demonstrated what they considered to be a more natural look that looked to turn pre-conceived notions around and have the mainstream culture questioning their own fashion rules."

Another word for junk food. This type of food was meant to appeal to the many kids that now roamed the streets. They mainly consisted of sugary drinks and chemically created food. This helped many people because it was quick and easy. In addition to that, it prevented spending a lot of time in the kitchen. Kids also got a lot of options to choose from.

The 1960's, though a time of great controversy and strife in America, were a time of unprecedented artistic and ideological growth and experimentation. Television and radios were more accessible and news traveled faster than ever. If a celebrity said something, their fans were likely to hear it and react to it. Where Beyonce and her contemporaries would use social media as a platform to spread their brand and their opinions, celebrities of the day would've used advertisements and public appearances to put themselves on display. Variety shows, radio shows, and magazines were the social media of the day, and celebrities exploited those outlets in the same way today's celebrities use platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, to name a few.

He started in night clubs in the early 50's and became good friends with Dean Martin after he roasted him at one of his shows. He quickly became a staple at Martin's celebrity roasts in Las Vegas. He also made more than 100 guest appearances during Johnny Carson's tenure as the host of The Tonight Show.
