After the colonies were established in the Americas, there were still many conflicts that went on, along with revolts. One such example is Bacon's rebellion, which had colonists rising up against the Virginia governor, who refused to give them support when the Indians attacked. In addition, groups such as the Paxton boys were formed to be able to fight off the Amerindians after many of the wars and battles against the Native Americans. In the colonies, they had trouble with order in other ways, and the regular movements in South Carolina was started to try and bring back order to the government of South Carolina.
In addition South Carolina also had a rebellion, called the Stono Rebellion, where the slaves came together and rose up against their "owners".

Indentured servants, black slaves, and even settlers were not completely satisfied with society. For example, Bacon’s Rebellion was initiated when Nathaniel Bacon and other landless whites became angry at the landowners for not distributing land to the former indentured servants. African slaves also became unhappy with their owners for overworking them and abusing them, so the Stono Rebellion started when African slaves seized weapons and attacked their owners. The Scots-Irish started something because they were unhappy with the Quaker’s tolerant policy towards the Indians and so the Paxton Boys uprising was when Scots-Irish frontiersmen attacked Native Americans, killing and capturing many. In North Carolina, the colonists’ unhappiness towards the governing body due to over taxation led to the Regulatory Movement, which was a catalyst to the American Revolution.

Bacon's Rebellion was a revolt of poor farmers in the Virginia colony. These farmers did not have the ability to gain land which caused them to rise up and rebel against the rules laid down by the government and began to expand into Native American territory. The weak rose up into a unified force and began to fight against authority. Stono Rebellion is another example of the oppressed or weaker group in society that united and rose up against a stronger group. The Stono Rebellion was the largest slave rebellion in the British colonies where around 40-50 whites and 44 blacks were killed. The Paxton Boys was a group who united with each other and massacred 21 Susquehannocks. They were a less influential group so they united and began to use force to try achieve what they desired. The War of the Regulation is another group of less powerful settlers unifying to fight against the figures in authority.

Despite having liberal governments in the English colonies, social disparity and discrimination became a growing problem that induced protests from groups of disheartened people. Among these groups were the poor, landless males and resentful indentured servants in Virginia. Their angered sentiments lead to the violent outbreak of the Bacon’s Rebellion, encouraging landowners to pursue African slave trade. Although slave rebellions like the Stono Rebellion in the Carolinas erupted, landowners favored slave labor over indentured servants; and the number of African slaves transported to the Americas continued to increase. Young males in Virginia were not the only unhappy groups. People of Scots-Irish descent who came to the colonies led a group known as the Paxton Boys to protest the Quakers peaceful relations with the Native Americans and later led Regulator Movement against the government’s fees and taxes.

Throughout the period of colonization, many conflicts regarding Native Americans, slaves, and colonists arose due to the fact that the different social groups didn't agree with one another and their treatment. For example, the Stono Rebellion was led by a group of African slaves went against the South Carolina military, and as a result many slaves escaped their harsh lives on the plantations. In this case, the lowest class of the colonial hierarchy rebelled against the higher classes, however, Bacon's Rebellion and the Regulator War were two examples in which the common settlers went against their own people. During Bacon's Rebellion, Nathaniel Bacon felt that Governor William Berkeley did not implement harsh laws on the Indians and it was impacting the lives of the white settlers, and so he wanted the conditions for the white settlers to improve. In addition, the Regulator War occurred due to the fact that citizens of the colonies rebelled against the colonial officials due to economic depression, political conflicts, and the problems arising with population increase. However, resistance against lower classes from higher classes also occurred when the Paxton Boys retaliated against American Indians after the French and Indian War, due to political and racial disagreements. In conclusion, disagreements led to conflict and war among all social classes due differing views.

The development and social stratification of British North America was often met with conflict. The Paxton Boys led a march on Philadelphia, protesting regulations against expansion. Similarly in the South, the Regulator Movement occurred when colonist, angry at colonial authorities, engaged in conflict. Stono's rebellion also occurred in the pre-revolutionary era, leading to greater restriction of slave rights. These events were part of a greater culture of revolution in early America leading up to the American Revolution and the increase of the value of the idea of freedom for all but slaves.

The late 1600s to early 1700s was a time of civil unrest in the colonies. Political leaders were not doing their jobs properly when It came to the interest of the citizens and drastic consequences resulted from this.

Drastic consequences like rebellions broke and casualties were a part of these. An example is the Bacon’s Rebellion, where indentured servants and farmers rioted against the governor, Sir William Berkeley, who refused to protect the indentured servants, now freemen, and the farmers from Native American attacks. Even though the rebel side lost, the rebellion caused a shift in preferred labor, from indentured servants to slaves. With a large amount of slaves arriving in America, it was more likely for them to revolt and overthrow their owners-and this is exactly what happened. The conflict between Spain and England encouraged a group of slaves to rise up against the whites and escape to Spanish Florida. This was known as Stono's rebellion.
Frontiersmen that settled farther west than the colonial governments also faced some conflicts. These frontiersmen didn't believe that they should be paying taxes to a government that doesn't give them much benefit and the people of the east believed the frontiersmen to be lesser and unable to govern themselves. This conflict resulted in a group in Pennsylvania called the Paxton Boys to massacre a peaceful, nearby American Indian village. In the Carolinas, a Regulator Movement took place, where a group of westerners gathered and protested the high taxes and poor representation of the colonial government.

All these movements are examples of discontent in North America, and the movements foreshadowed the American revolution and the kinds of problems in the future of America, including racism, slavery, suspicion of non-Europeans (in this case, Amerindians), and law enforcement. Additionally, all these movements led to increased tension and social problems in the colonies. Bacon's Rebellion highlighted the resentment from lower class freemen in Virginia towards landowners and Amerindians. As in Virginia, the less fortunate in South Carolina, specifically the oppressed African slaves rebelled against their unfair treatment. Even in the seemingly perfect Philadelphia, the Land of Brotherly Love, some people were unhappy. For some reason, another minority, the Scots-Irish, disliked Amerindians. The fourth movement, the Regulator Movement, was slightly different in purpose than the earlier three. Colonists and landowners wanted to restore order in the Carolinas and opposed people like the rebellious and rowdy Scots-Irish.

Various acts of rebellion led up to the American Revolution, effectively familiarizing the American colonists with ideas of revolution. First was Bacon’s Rebellion, led by Nathaniel Bacon and other landless men against Governor Berkeley. Although the rebellion was not particularly successful, the impact it left was quite visible. Black slaves started to be used instead of white indentured servants, and that eventually led to the Stono Rebellion, which happened in South Carolina and was the largest rebellion in the American colonies. The Paxton Boys, although not quite a group formed for revolt, was similar in idea because they killed Amerindians as a means of counterattack after the French and Indian War. Lastly, the Regulator Movement was a revolt against the colonial officials of the Carolinas and continued until just four years before the start of the American Revolution.

The colonies of America faced many internal conflicts where the lower classes lead a rebellion against the higher authorities. Francis Bacon and the Paxton Boys both lead a powerful rebellion against the lenient policies towards the Native Americans. Bacon's Rebellion was one of the first large scale rebellions that paved the way for others to revolt. In the Stono Rebellion, 80 slaves revolted but was quickly met with a militia of a 100 men where a furious battle occurred and 40 whites and 40 slaves were left dead. In the Regulator Movement, thousands of colonists were disgruntled towards a corrupt greedy government. After a quick fight, the Regulators surrendered. These rebellions generated hatred towards the elite, or the British, which would then lead up to the American Revolution.

Tensions in the colonies increased as the population of the colonies increased since there was less land and wealth to go around. Indentured servants made up most of the labor force in the colonies, but rebelled against the wealthy governor of Virginia, William Berkeley, in Bacon's Rebellion when he refused to acknowledge any of the complaints made to him about their safety or their life after their period of servitude. The increase in population also applied to slaves as the increase in the slave population led to more rebellious slaves and slave revolts such as the Stono Rebellion in which a group of about 80 slaves escaped from British captivity and attempted to escape to Spanish Florida. The Paxton Boys were another group of an uprising as the fronteirsmen murdered many people because they felt like their demands were not being heard by the government due to existing treaties with Amerindians that they wished to do away with. The Regulator Movement was an uprising of colonists in South Carolina against the corrupt colonial officials due to a population increase making it harder for colonists to make their earnings. All of the rebellions were ultimately caused by an increase in population in the colonies leading to discomfort between those colonists already in the colonies with their needs not being met by the government or other outside forces.

In the southern colonies, the relationship between a land owner and their workers became tense. Indentured servants were the first labor system set in the southern colonies. The tensions broke when a worker led Bacon's Rebellion due to the unjust treatment of the indentured servants. To avoid these tensions, landowners moved towards slaves. This would allow them to own them instead of employ them, causing even more injustice, until the Stono Rebellion occurred, showing that their injustice could not be withheld. Likewise, colonists believed that they were resources, such as tax money, was not being evenly distributed from the Eastern state. The Paxton Boys believed in this, so they led the Regulator Movement to protest the unjust distribution of resources to the colonies.

The Stono Rebellion was one of the most successful slave rebellions of all the colonies. During this time, many people of the labor force began to rebel because they were unhappy with their life. Another example would be Bacon's Rebellion where the indentured servants rebelled against the political leaders. In the late 1700's, the citizens began to become frustrated with the British colonial rule in the Carolina's. A different rebellion occurred against the American Indians, the Paxton Boys, in the late 1700's which affected the development of the American colonies.

As the colonies continued to develop, several rebellions occurred due to disagreements in policies. For example, Bacon's Rebellion began in Virginia due to the alliance William Berkeley maintained with the Indians. A similar event occurred in Pennsylvania when the Paxton Boys retaliated against the local Amerindians and murdered several members of the tribe, simply due to their hatred against the natives. Unlike these two events, the Regulator Movement and Stono's Rebellion occurred from officials abusing their power. Stono's Rebellion was created from oppressed slaves wanting freedom and the regulator movement was composed of colonists who believed that officials were abusing their power.

During a time when white indentured servants were the main source of plantation labor, the violent occurrence of Bacon’s Rebellion in 1676 by displeased indentured servants forced many landowners to reconsider indentured servants as a source of labor in favor of African slaves; this change had monumental impacts on colonial America as it reshaped the entire economy of the region. Though these African slaves were more expensive than their indentured counterparts and had their own share of problems and revolts, such as Stono’s Rebellion, they essentially proved to be more manageable and less aggressive than the rebellious whites who partook in Bacon’s Rebellion. With the growing usage of the African slave trade over the years, especially in the South, as well as the integration of other fleeing European groups into the growing populous, America essentially became a melting pot of diverse ethnicities, with its main foreign blood being attributed to African slaves and Scots – Irish who respectively composed 17% and 7% of the entire population. The Scots – Irish were a rebellious and rather individualistic group that had almost no concern for the British government; consequently, they were attributed with two main revolts in Philadelphia and North Carolina: the Paxton Boys’ march for Quaker’s lenient policy towards Indians and the Regulator Movement for eastern domination of colonial affairs.

All of the terms listed are clearly connected as they are all retaliations sparked by the passions of people who believed that their leaders were doing them wrong. In Virginia Governor William Berkeley wanted to maintain good relationship with the Native Americans as they stimulated the fur trade. The settlers, however, were upset about Indian attacks, and when Berkeley refused to strike back, they rose up against him (under the leadership of Nathaniel Bacon). They kicked him out of power so that they could fight back in their armed rebellion and do what they believed was right. Similarly, the Africans of the Stono rebellion believed that the treatment they received was not right. This uprising occurred in the colony of South Carolina and turned out to be the largest slave uprising in the British mainland colonies. The Africans simply staged this revolt so that they would not be taken advantage of any longer. After the French and Indian War and Pontiac's rebellion, some Pennsylvanians held grievances with the American Indians in the area. Some of these people took initiative (similar to the revolutionaries of Bacon's Rebellion) and murdered as many American Indians as they could. They found this to be the only appropriate response to the complicated status of their relationship with the Indians. Finally, the Regulator Movement occurred. This was yet another uprising fueled by the peoples' resentment. It occurred in the Carolina colonies as citizens armed themselves and rose up against colonial officials. The people were upset because of the steep population increase, economic depression, and political corruption, so they decided to take matters into their own hands and enact change. Although the movement did not have any significant, lasting effects, it did catalyze the American Revolutionary War. Clearly these movements are all results of unhappy people trying to enact major change and alter the state of the world around them.

Bacon's Rebellion, led by Nathaniel Bacon, worked to end the "rule" of governor William Berkeley. About 70 years later the Stono rebellion took place over slavery. The slaves had grown tired of being oppressed and rebelled against the rich plantation owners. Next the Paxton boy also had their own "coup de'tat" and this eventually led to the regulator movement. This movement took place in the British North American colonies over the unbalance of power from the normal peoples as compared to the higher ranking "government" officials.
