This connects to the creation of gunpowder because the exchange of information during trade led to new thinking and ideas which is how gunpowder was made.

Johannes Kepler used Tycho Brahe's data and works to make two of his own major works, Astronomia Nova and Harmonies of the World. Gunpowder was originally used for fireworks on special events and for trade. However, after constant invasions, the Song Dynasty needed a way to fight back. In addition, the philosophers would be punished or killed for releasing the information which discouraged them. As a result, Europe was later with its innovations and advancements. (Slides)
