Topic 2: How the scientific method relates to scientific inquiry and how inquiry-based learning impacts student learning.

A.When I first started learning about inquiry-based learning and the scientific method, I had the misconception that scientific inquiry consisted solely of the process of questioning something and searching for its solution. On the other hand, a scientific method is a codified approach to scientific inquiry that helps ensure that tests are carried out in a methodical and controlled manner. This is something that I am aware of now. In addition, there is a kind of education known as inquiry-based learning, which differs from traditional memorization-based education in that its primary goal is to get pupils to think critically and investigate different perspectives.

B.The exercise we did in class, where we each built our paper plane to test a hypothesis, was one of the experiences that allowed me to have a deeper comprehension of the scientific method and inquiry-based learning. Because of this activity, I now understand how the scientific method can be used to test hypotheses systematically and how inquiry-based learning can encourage students to be curious and explore their ideas. Both of these concepts were new to me before participating in this activity.

C.Following the conclusion of my hands-on scientific experiences, I intend to continue expanding my knowledge of this subject by reading about scientific investigations and findings. In addition, I will continue to participate in activities and experiments that assist me in gaining a deeper comprehension of how the scientific method operates and how inquiry-based learning can affect students' academic development.

Topic 3: The characteristics of life and what it means to be alive

A.When I was younger, I always believed that life was nothing more than a series of coincidental occurrences. I did not think much about what it meant to be alive or what qualities constituted a life worth living at the time. My perspective on life was that it was just something that took place. I now understand that there is so much more to it than that. Each person's path through life has a specific destination in mind. Life can be defined by certain characteristics, such as the capacity for growth, reproduction, metabolic activity, and the ability to react to stimuli. These aspects demonstrate that life is not simply a collection of random occurrences but rather a procedure with a predetermined goal. What makes life so extraordinary is that each individual possesses a one-of-a-kind path to travel.

B.As a result of what I have learned in this class about the scientific method and the role that DNA plays in our bodies, the way I think about this subject has undergone a substantial transformation. My perspective on life as a whole has shifted to include the realization that it is a process that is both intricate and fluid, one that is perpetually shifting and progressing. In addition to this, I have realized the significance of the scientific method in gaining an understanding of the complexities of life. Because of this, I now have a better comprehension of the function that DNA plays in the operation of cells and how this knowledge can be applied to studying the development and operation of living organisms.

C.Following my scientific experiences, I intend to continue researching and reading about this subject to maintaining my growth in this area. In addition, to broaden my understanding of the matter and acquire new perspectives, I will discuss it with some people who are already well-versed in it. In conclusion, I will consider how my personal experiences have contributed to my overall comprehension of the matter at hand. As long as I keep doing all of these different things, I will be able to develop further my comprehension of what it means to be alive and the qualities that define life.

Topic 4: How microscopic changes have macroscopic effect

A. Prior to understanding this notion, I was under the impression that changes occurring on a microscopic scale would not have appreciable consequences on a macroscopic scale. On the other hand, I have realized that even minimal alterations at the microscopic level may have significant repercussions at the macroscopic level.
B. Having the opportunity to perform tests using the scientific method is one of the experiences that has influenced the way I think about this subject. My experience has taught me that by altering one variable at a time, I can better understand how each variable contributes to the overall result of the experiment. In addition, I have realized that DNA is involved in many biological activities and that even minute alterations in DNA may have significant repercussions for the organism.
C. I want to further develop my understanding of this subject by studying the consequences of subtle shifts at the microscopic level. In addition, I want to continue carrying out experiments following the scientific method to deepen my comprehension of how modifications made on a microscopic scale may have repercussions on a larger one.

Topic 5: How your scientific perspective has changed since the beginning of the semester

A.Prior to my education in the scientific method, I was convinced that all investigations into scientific topics followed a pattern that could be broken down into steps. I had the notion that scientists started with a concept, then conducted experiments to test that hypothesis, and eventually either supported or dismissed the idea based on the results of those experiments. Even I assumed DNA was nothing more than a long string of genetic information for establishing our external look.

B.Because of what I have discovered about how science works and the part that DNA plays, I now realize that the process of doing scientific study only sometimes adheres to a linear pattern. Even though they started with the presumption that their original hypothesis was correct, scientists may find that, after conducting several tests, they discovered that their hypothesis was, in fact, incorrect. After that, they could think about going back and modifying their hypothesis in some way if they decide to do so. I also realized that DNA is more than just a string of information on our genetic makeup linked together.

C. By reading the writings of members of the scientific community in the form of papers and journals, I will be able to advance my knowledge of this topic. In addition, one of my goals is to keep on with my experimentation and develop a more in-depth comprehension of the scientific method. Because of this, I will have a deeper comprehension of the processes used in scientific research and how DNA influences the outward characteristics of humans.

Topic 6: How your experiences with NS 100 relate to your apprenticeship in the classroom

A.The Scientific Method is a procedure utilized to gather information regarding the world surrounding us. It is a technique of thinking that can be utilized in any circumstance in which one attempts to determine something or find an answer. I understood that the scientific method was a methodology to arrive at conclusions by conducting experiments in a controlled environment. I had never given any attention to how it could be utilized in other aspects of life, such as in the workplace or the classroom, so the idea was utterly foreign to me. Nevertheless, after understanding the scientific method and participating in some inquiry-based activities with the students in my classroom, I concluded that the scientific method might be applied in various contexts. It is a technique of thinking that can be utilized in any circumstance in which one attempts to determine something or find an answer.

B. My experience teaching elementary school students has taught me that one of the most effective educational strategies is to follow the scientific approach. It is a method that involves posing questions and looking for answers, which can lead to a greater comprehension of the world surrounding us. In addition, I have witnessed how the scientific approach may be utilized to offer solutions to issues that arise in the classroom. You can use the scientific method, for instance, to figure out what the problem is and how to fix it if a child is having problems with a math problem.

C.My knowledge of the scientific method will continue to advance due to my participation in additional inquiry-based activities with the students in my classroom. In addition, I intend to carry my research into the scientific process and the various contexts in which it can be utilized.
