Multiple choice tests using scantrons (in college as well). Most were not project or essay based. Once I was in my Master's program, it was mostly papers.

For me, testing was all about cramming 2 nights before the test to memorize. Then dump all that knowledge into the test and forget it afterwards. I’m relatively good at memorizing, so this system worked for me - but that is not the case for everyone.

Students were put into rows and the teacher handed out tests to each student. We sat in silence and after we finished the test they were collected. Within a few days we got our results which determined if our grade went up or down.

In HS, testing was conducted through multiple choice exams or timed writing. Although I did well on the timed writes, the multiple choice gave me a bit of anxiety; however, through learning about test-taking strategies, my anxiety improved through time.

Testing throughout my high school experience has been overall in the same format. We would usually spend a couple weeks to a chunk of the year practicing to then take our final exam. At times this can be pretty stressful, an example I can include for this is my exam for my AP Environmental Science class last year.

Testing at Nogales High school (or really any high school) to me is being able to memorize information in time for when the test that correlates with said information is given. The only class I can confidently say does not solely rely on the memorization of information on tests is AP US History. Above just memorizing information, the information learned in APUSH needs to be applied in the form of DBQs, LAQs, and SAQs. However, I feel that the application of information can be taken further than just on the writing level.

It was difficult for me, since it involve a lot of memorizing in high school. So with memorizing the information was not retained. In addition, I was a Second Language Learner so I took tests just to pass the tests but were not meaningful.
