I cannot imagine a better way to end 16 years of teaching with the two of you by my virtual side. Not only are you attuned and attentive to the students, but you are witty, wise and really wonderful. I'm not sure that I could have pulled off this year without you. And you are more than just the dynamic duo. James- you have been my go-to person who just gets it on every level; I can't believe there was a time that I actually taught you when I feel like I have been learning from you ever since. There are no words to quite capture my gratitude to you for sticking with me through all kinds of version of crazy and helping me maintain my sanity. I think we laughed our way through much of it. Shubh- you have been such a gift to me and to the students- you are unrelentingly supportive and warm and probably the most clear headed person I have ever had the honor to meet. Thank you both... We literally could not have mounted this complex, large, new online course without you! From brainstorming ideas, to building a design and structure, to editing and uploading videos, to supporting students and shepherding them though content and assignments, to grading and providing feedback, you touched everything with care, skill, and commitment.
We still hear from students that being in H616 “Section” is one of their most memorable and enriching experiences at HGSE, and only you could make that possible. We appreciate and admire what you were able to do week after week to create community and facilitate learning in ways that our big class needed. In the end, even after details of the specific content fade from students’ minds, how they felt when they were with you and each other will shape their development as professionals and persons. Thank you for bringing so much of who you are to the students in your care.

To the kind, generous, creative, resourceful, committed team of HPL 2020, I want to acknowledge the special role you played in the lives and adjustment process for so many students last summer. I have often thought of you as the first TFs at HGSE -- and the most important members of the teaching team -- that students come to know and trust as part of their journey as students. All of last summer, you never wavered in your commitment to supporting our incredible students, and you defined for me what humanizing looks like.
