If there is something you want, even if you have more than enough to buy it, always check and then double check that it is something you really want or need. That way you don't end up spending money on something you end up not liking.

If you want something but don't have enough money to buy it, set a spending goal, if it is short term then it is worth saving up all your extra money, but if it is something expensive like a car, don't torture yourself. Set some of your spare money aside for spending as a sort of self allowance.
