Microplastic is a global problem today, since most of the products we consume and use come in plastic, which eventually ends up in one form or another in the oceans. Plastic takes a long time to bio-degrade, but the sea does it much faster because the currents cause it to collide with other plastics and break into small pieces, creating microplastic. The microplastic is the derivative of the plastic that we occupy through the packaging, these are so tiny (about 5 mm or less is considered microplastic) that it is difficult to separate. There are 2 types of microplastic. The primary microplastic: is the one that goes directly to the sea in the way it was created. It is mainly present in cosmetic and personal hygiene products.
The secondary microplastic: it is the one that comes from the degradation of macroplastics or from the release of synthetic microfibers.

The microplastic is very difficult to separate from the sea when it is in small pieces.
Plastic in the ocean creates microplastic because due to the currents they collide with each other or with other things and break into small pieces. this mixture of microplastic with water is not homogeneous because if you see it with a microscope you can differentiate the different particles, but even if it is not homogeneous it is not visible to the human eye, this means that it is heterogeneous. So the problem with microplastic in the sea is that the animals cannot differentiate it and end up consuming it and then we consume them.

- It has been used to manufacture certain plastics and resins since the 1960s.
- BPA is found in polycarbonate plastics
- Some research has shown that BPA can leach into food or drink from containers that are made with BPA.
- Exposure to BPA is a concern because of the possible effects of BPA on the brain and prostate health of fetuses, infants, and children.
- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has said that bisphenol A is safe at the very low levels that occur in some foods.
- In Spain and France, its use has already been banned in materials that come into contact with children's food.
- It is mostly used in packaging, cans, bottles, and toys.
- Consequences of its use: heart disease, obesity, causes anxiety and cancer.
- There are materials to avoid using plastic such as stainless steel and glass.

Since the microplastic is very difficult to separate from the water when it is already quite dissolved we looked for another solution, our solution is not to separate, but to change a component of the plastic so that if in some future it ends up in the ocean/sea, when this becomes microplastic it will not do so much damage to the animals and later to us. The most harmful components of plastic are polystyrene and BPA, while polypropylene does not cause long-term damage (neither in its production nor in the sea or food). This change does not mean that there is no pollution in the sea, it will only decrease that fish and people get sick from this cause, what we can help with now is to pick up the trash we find and not DROP trash into the sea or oceans.
