Kipling was born in Bombay, India, in 1865. As a child he was sent to England to avoid health problems, but also so that the he could begin his schooling. In England Rudyard stayed in a house which he now calls "The house of desolation." This is were Rudyards style of deep emotional poems came from. He was abused and abandoned by his parents. He later moved to producing poems for children, which he was very successful with. "O'Toole" is one of his popular works. He finally succumbed to a painful illness early in 1936. Rudyard was an incredible author

Sargeant is not happy that Danny Deever is getting hung, and he is looking pale because of it.

Files-on-parade is making light of the situation and making jokes. This is morbid, but also demonstrates he has a sense of humor. ‘I’ve drunk ’is beer a score o’ times,’ said Files-on-Parade.

‘’E’s drinkin’ bitter beer alone,’ the Colour-Sergeant said. This demonstrates a personality trait.

"They’ve taken of his buttons off an’ cut his stripes away" This is a metaphor because the stripes are symbolic to the American flag. Rudyard is stating that his freedom and life have been taken.

What makes you look so white, so White?’ said Files-on-Parade. This is an alliteration because of the repeated sound of the first or second letter in a series of words.

Both protagonists are shaken up by Danny Deer being hung. Seargent is more sensitive because other characters could visibly see his discomfort. What makes you look so white, so white?’ said Files-on-Parade. Both protagonists know Danny Deever which makes it more of a tragedy. ‘’Is cot was right-’and cot to mine,’ said Files-on-Parade. ‘I’ve drunk ’is beer a score o’ times,’ the Colour-Sergeant said.

WIlly Loman cares about his children, just like the two protagonists care about Danny Deever. "I’ll see him in the morning; I’ll have a nice talk with him. I’ll get him a job selling. He could be big in no time." This quote demonstrates that willy is trying to help his son because he cares about him. ‘’Is cot was right-’and cot to mine,’ said Files-on-Parade. ‘I’ve drunk ’is beer a score o’ times,’ the Colour-Sergeant said. These quotes demonstrate that the protagonists were close to Danny Deever, therefore demonstrating they care about him.
