Since its inception in 2001, NECDO has actively worked in the fields of education, peacebuilding, human rights, gender equality, and women’s empowerment. In particular, it has focused on developing women’s leadership, fostering interfaith harmony, and delivering educational programs to prevent violence and promote peaceful communities.

We fulfill our mission through four key strategic objectives:

1. Environmental Sustainability

Together, we face the pressing challenges of our planet. YCC is dedicated to disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptation, and sustainable resource management. We promote waste management initiatives and the protection of national and marine resources. By joining these efforts, you contribute to creating a healthier and more resilient Cambodia.

2. Economic Empowerment

We envision a future where every Cambodian youth can grow and thrive independently. YCC works to create jobs, expand employment opportunities, strengthen socio-economic rights, and enhance financial literacy. We also support youth entrepreneurship and foster business ethics to promote a fair economy, driving Cambodia’s sustainable economic development.

3. Educational Advancement

Education is the key to progress. YCC is committed to expanding access to quality education, equipping young people with essential skills such as communication, problem-solving, and digital literacy. Through practical advocacy initiatives and networking programs, we ensure that youth can apply their knowledge in real-world contexts.

4. Institutions and Leadership

The voices of youth hold the power to shape the future. YCC supports policy and institutional reforms, democratic development, improved public services, and fiscal reforms. We encourage young people to actively participate in an open political environment and nurture the next generation of leaders who will guide Cambodia into the future.

In Kenya, we have implemented projects to counter violent extremism and resolve inter-ethnic conflicts in Lamu, Tana River, Garissa, Wajir, Mandera, Moyale, and Nairobi. Because the same ethnic groups live across borders, our peacebuilding efforts have naturally expanded into Ethiopia and Somalia, fostering cross-border dialogue, trauma healing, and peace initiatives.

Currently, we are partnering with the global advisory firm 'Adam Smith International' to implement the “Good Neighbors” project in the Somalia–Ethiopia border region. This initiative focuses on building solidarity among multi-ethnic communities, mitigating inter-ethnic conflicts, and strengthening cross-border cooperation, thereby directly contributing to long-term regional stability.

Beyond peace dialogues, YAPAD also works to protect the rights of stateless Somali communities in Kenya by advocating for citizenship, child protection, and social inclusion of vulnerable groups. To reduce youth exposure to violent extremism, we provide vocational training, entrepreneurship programs, and job creation opportunities—empowering young people with new prospects while fostering peace, resilience, and social cohesion in their communities.

With the support of partners such as the U.S. Embassy, UN-Habitat, Interpeace, the Danish Refugee Council, and Adam Smith International, YAPAD is empowering youth and women to become key actors in peace, justice, and sustainable development at both regional and international levels.

The Phnom Penh Metro Rotaract Club was founded in June 2011 with the sponsorship of the Phnom Penh Metro Rotary Club and was officially registered with Rotary International in September 2012.
