         <description><![CDATA[<div>The separation of the continents formed once as Pangea--proven by the different habitats of similar organisms is what makes Alfred Wegener's Continental drift theory valid. It proves that there was a connection among the continents however they drifted apart. As suggested in an article by the NASA Earth Observatory, Wegener proved his theory by identifying the creatures that were in different climates but they were the same organism therefore showing that the continents did move because the inhabitants would have been in the same area <br>Alfred Wegener (1880-1930).          <description><![CDATA[<div>The reason why Alfred Wegener's theory was rejected by scientists when he presented it was because he could not explain the mechanism behind the continental drift. Why would the continents drift apart in the first place? What force pulls them apart? These questions were left unanswered until scientists discovered the tectonic plates which each continent rests on. Now that we have a reason on why these continents drifted in the first place, I think that it makes Wegener's claims valid. Additionally, the earthquakes and volcanoes are proof of the movement of tectonic plates. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Alfred Wegener's theory stated that the continents must have been one big landmass but as the plates forming and changing slowly every year, this land has separated into smaller parts and are our continents today. Even though many people noticed that these continents could fit together like a puzzle, he was able to to give evidence how the earth's surface changed slowly over time. This theory showed the crustal movement and plate tectonics of how lands can form or drift apart. Using seismometers later on, they proved that volcanos, earthquakes and such were being formed and movement was found in the earth's layers which makes Alfred Wegener's theory valid.<br>sources used:<br>Glasscoe, M.          <description><![CDATA[<div>The theory created by Alfred Wegener was initially thought to be nonsense during his time due to the lack of evidence and a thorough explanation on how this theory could be remotely possible. I looked more into my source and Alfred apparently dragged this theory on 'til his death. He gave points such as coal deposits being found in the north pole and signs of glaciation in Africa. To us, these are extremely strange occurrences due to the difference in climate, but would only be possible if all continents were truly just one massive continent, also known as Pangea. He also pointed out the pattern in which fossils were discovered and it seems to show they were found in places across the borders of each continent and this could only make sense if these continents were previously positioned next to each other. source: Sant, J.          <description><![CDATA[<div>His claim is valid because the lithosphere did actually change however in his time tectonic plates were not known yet so his claim that the continents drifted is understandable. Especially since his argument that certain animals and plants could not have migrated through the ocean still holds up until today. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>What makes his theory scientifically valid is that he provided a handful of evidences that prove his theory, like the change in atmosphere/environment in some landmasses, based on the case of the discovery of marine fossils and limestones found at Everest's peak. Upon further explanation this means that India used to be humid and not as warm as it is today and based on the circumstances it's lithosphere can't be submerged in water or else it'd be subducted by the Eurasian plate resulting to a chain of volcanoes and not mountains. Another point that I'd like to point out that made the most sense is that some animals or plants couldn't possibly swim to get to the other continents nor could a land bridge would exist because of the isostasy of the landmasses therefore the only thing that would make it possible for the fossils being discovered in  different places is that the lands used to be connected but then after millions of years of tectonic plate activity the lands have been separated from eachother.<br><a href="http://publish.illinois.edu/alfredwegener/evidence/">http://publish.illinois.edu/alfredwegener/evidence/</a></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Prior to the discovery of the Continental Drift Theory and its process, Alfred Wegener's claims were dismissed and rejected. Although, with further observation and experimentation, scientists have found his theory to be valid due to the changes that were observed between the connections between the now-separated continents. There were fossils found in continents that should not be able to support that kind of creature and suited the environment of continents far away from where it was found, and its been observed that the continents fit together like a puzzle piece, further proving that they were once one big continent: Pangea. <br>Another phenomena that supports this claim is the creation of valleys, deep sea trenches, mountains, and all kinds of landforms. These landforms are effects proven by the production of movement in the Earth's crust (aka the tectonic plates) through earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. <br>In conclusion, the Earth's lithosphere is in a constant state of motion and change, even if it is not noticeable within the naked eye, but given an amount of time, the changes will soon be made visible through the numerous new islands, landforms and waterforms that are created.  <br><br>Sources: <br>1.          <description><![CDATA[<div>Wegeners theory was that the continents we have now were all once one big continent. i think that what makes his theory valid is that he was able to provide evidence that could suggest that the continental drift happened such as the presence of marine fossils at the summit of mt.          <description><![CDATA[<div>Though scientists dismissed Wegener's theory that continents moved, separated, and attached themselves together. This theory is actually scientifically valid  because he included a lot of evidence such as certain animal fossils being found in certain parts of the world that could have been once connected such as the freshwater mesosaurus found in South Africa and South America which could have been conjoined since this animal could not have swam across the Atlantic ocean. He also stated that these continents fit together like puzzle pieces and even stated that rock layers also matched one another perfectly. This theory is also scientfically valid because though Wegener did not state it in his theory since it was not yet discovered in his time, due to tectonic plates land masses do actually move over time though it is hard to see which shows that the different continents could indeed have been one big land.<br><br>Sources:<br>The Himalayas [This Dynamic Earth, USGS].          <description><![CDATA[<div>Scientist did not accept Alfred Wegener's theory of continental drift since he was not able to explain the mechanism for why did the continent drift. It is scientifically valid because we now know that continents rest on massive slab of rock called tectonic plates. These plates are always moving in a process called tectonics. Up until today, continents are still moving.</div>]]></description>
