She wanted to show her father that she has bravery. The text says " I nearly stepped on two rats gnawing and froze. Then i told myself that i must show bravery".  She wants to show that she can grow plants like her father. The text says "he would see my patience and my hard work." It also says "I would show him that I was his daughter." The narrator plants the seeds, because the seeds mean a lot to her because she wanted to prove that she can be a farmer like her dad.
