         <description><![CDATA[<div>                        Athens<br>  Athens was a Democracy and councils of 500 met every day. According to the laws, 6000 had to be present for a meeting. Every citizen could speak and take part in the assembly. <br>                           Sparta<br>   Sparta was an Oligarchy and they had military strength. The councils  of Elders could stop any law they didn't like. The decisions were made by Councils of Elders and it considers of 2 Kings and 28 other men. The men had to be 60 years old and from a noble family. Assembly in Sparta was made up of all citizens.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; <sup>Athens</sup></div><div>&nbsp;<sub>Athens economy was based on trading. Athens was near the sea and was able to trade with other city-states and foreign lands. Athenian coins were made of gold, silver, and bronze. On one side would be a picture of an Athena and at the other side would be a picture of an owl. Agora was a Greek's market place were merchants sold their goods.</sub></div><div><sub>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Sparta.</sub></div><div><sub>&nbsp; &nbsp; Spartans economy relied on farming and conquering their neighbors. Spartans conquered their neighbors and the people living in its neighboring regions became Spartans slaves. Helots were allowed to live in their villages, but they had to give much of the food they grew to Sparta. Spartans used heavy iron bars for money and it was much harder to steal.</sub></div><div>&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>                            Athens <br>   Athens believed that a good citizen should have a intelligent mind and healthy body. Boys went to school at age 14. Boys were taught strength, coaches taught them wrestling, gymnastics, and music. Girls were helping their mothers at house holding tasks.<br>                         Sparta<br>   Spartans purpose was to produce capable men and women who could fight and protect the city-state. The most important goal was to be a brave soldier.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>                           Athens</div><div>Women  could not own property and the most important women were priestesses. Athenian responsibilities were spinning, weaving and supervising the slaves. Slaves had jobs that required a great deal of skill.<br>                             Sparta<br>  Spartans women had many right's  that other women did not have. Spartans treated helots harshly, fearful that the helots  revolt. Helots had some rights and they could buy freedom if they had enough money.</div>]]></description>
