I disagree with this. His father was the reason why he didn't give up when he could have. I think he would have given up earlier if his father wasn't there with him to give him a reason to live. He cared so much for his father and it proved his character. If his father was not there, he could have gotten beaten or bribed multiple times. I think that without Shlomo, Elie would have given up and wouldn't have made it through the concentration camps.

I think he wouldn't of made it without his father because he kept him going throughout the whole time. Even tho he gave his dad rations of his food and wouldn't help his health Shlomo kept him in the right mindset. He told him to keep going when he wanted to lie down and rest and its so much easier to do something with a partner then by yourself. Also it gave Elie something else to think about instead of all the bad things happen. They gave each other hope which is what they needed more then food and health.

He would have been emotionally empty for longer if he had abandoned his father. He probably wouldn’t have been able to emotionally recover quickly. His dad would’ve died faster too, so that would’ve been on his conscience. I disagree with this statement.

Agree his father was just a weight on him. If he was left alone he would have made it a lot farther and it would have been better for him. In the beginning his father helped him but in the end he only weighed him down

No his father was very important in his life during this time. His father kept him going. When they were hiding in the shed he smiled at him and that kept him going. yet when Shlomo was about the pass away through the horrible nasty disease he definetly should have taken his dads food evan if that sounds bad iam sorry but the natzis were horrible and dangourous and they were gonna kill him later because he was sick.
