A town planner has to sort out where people can build. He has to show the builders of the house the district plan. The district plan is a rule book for someone who wants to build a property. A district plan consists of the rules constructed by the Wairarapa council. Some of the rules are, the maximum height, the amount of land someone has and the distance between houses. He also has to make sure that people build their properties in the right place, e.g. someone who wants to own a shop has to have the shop in the designated area for shops. Each year the council has a annual plan, where the community suggests what they what to have in the community. Some of the money from rates are poured into this project.
