i think one of the best memory from this year was playing witch dice with the participants. even tho it was jus a small part of RHC i think that was when we really bonded as a group where everyone had to discuss and come up wtith the range that shiyun and i had shared. another part of the witch dice game was that when they were spamming the dice rolls and there were so many numbers coming in i spam read and said "within range" or "not within range" and everyone found it kinda funny ig cos they were laughing HAHAHA

Before ylead started, i was quite worried about my grp's dynamic and how there may potentially be quite quiet throughout or just not attentive... but it is very very heartwarming and quite unexpected that by mid of day 1 and even more so from day 2, my participants are beginning to take the lead (esp those who are more outspoken) to guide the group in the various activities. And i think the VER really showed how my group are able to effectively work tgt to find clues!! ALSO, im really proud of them for being so efficient in doing the grp hw project, although the deadline said 6pm, the earliest submission from one of my groups was at 3.48pm and it rly showed how they can work tgt to come up with their ideation quickly!

We have encountered a lot of unexpected situations during these 3 days, such as overshoot the programme, unclear about the programme flow and which meeting we are going to join... But through all these, we have also learned a lot of valuable lessons. For example, when we are amid of a disruption, we have to stay calm and discuss a best solution with our teammates so that we have solve the problem together. Also, we always change flexibly according to different situations but still remain focused on our overall aim. These lessons and problem solving skills i learned in this Ylead can help me better prepare for future unexpected scenes

I think that one of the largest differences between this Y.LEAD camp and other leadership development programmes that I've experienced is the online medium in which it is being conducted. Even though there are both benefits and downsides to such a development, it is definitely an experience unlike any other.

Y.LEAD 2021 has been a really great experience since it is held online this year which is very different from the other years. My best memory from Y.LEAD 2021 is during the icebreakers on the first day. Since it is online and it was the first day, it was really difficult to get the participants to play the icebreakers. Throughout the games, we were asking participants to call out others in order to ensure that all of them participated. However, I was happy that more of them opened up as they played more games and they were much more closer to one another. All of them became more proactive whenever they need to volunteer to present. Our participants are also quite cute and we also find it fun to talk with them, all of them also very smart.

Y.LEAD is held online this year and it feels very different as we have to interact with the participants online and it is more difficult to hype them up and ensure that they are on task because we are unable to see them in real life. There are many links that we have to send them, which might be quite confusing as they have to submit everything online as well. The online experience is quite new as all our previous experiences are in real life where we can have cheers and go to different venues for different activities, which can also help hype up the participants. However, because it is a virtual camp, facilitators have to put in more effort to engage the participants and also brief them about the various activities and queries that they might have, which allows us to learn more as well, not only on how to deal with participants, but also on what we should do when we are facing different situations.

As of now, my best memory of YLead is the tiktok dance we did as a group. To be honest, I initially doubted that this could even work out as our group looked quite unbonded especially since they hardly on their cams for the first 2 days and I was thinking that they would be reluctant to do it but to my surprise the reality was the complete opposite of my expectation. With much persuation, my group decided to dance together (including the fam head as well). In addition, what made it much more memorable was the fact that our group was most likely the only group that did a dance. So yay props to my group.

I was so impressed with their quality of work given the short amount of time too. I was also shocked that one of my groups submitted the homework at 2pm++ too! rlly happy with their performance!

LD was also done on the first day, when they weren't as familiar with each other yet, so I think it was really nice and commendable that they were still willing to take the initiative :D

Not resenting helping 1 of my group's mini groups ideate and implement their artefact because we were shorthanded. Although it was really tough, it allowed me to better understand what it's like for a participant in RHC, which is different from the experience I had as a participant myself 2 years ago. Through this I also learnt that some of my participants are actually easier to get along with than anticipated, so I guess also learning to keep an open mind when interacting with new people :)

I didnt expect ylead to still be so enjoyable because since it is brought to online, I actually expected it to be less engaging and less fun. However, the entire journey was not only memorable but also very interesting. It was also very fun interacting with all of them and realised that it is our choice and within us to choose how we see and view certain issues. Hence ylead was not only fruitful but amazing to me. ;)

i think one of the best memories is the virtual cheer we did as a group. Although it seemed impossible to do it online, d51 was really enthusiastic and managed to hype the discord up! Also, it was nice to see the quiet ones stepping out of their comfort zones and were able to match their energy levels with the more proactive ones! While doing the cheer, we as facils could visibly see a few of the participants stepping up to lead the group. it probably is one of their best memories!

I think one thing I have learned was to be flexible. Being able to adapt to unforeseen circumstances really challenged me to think fast and act quick on the spot. Since it was an online event, there were many technical issues that arise...but it really pushed me to manage my time well and also manage the activities and information being relayed to the participants. I think being flexible is an important skill a leader should have as anything can pop up during the event. We have to adapt to such changes and think of a suitable solution to solve the problem.

One of the best memories I have from Ylead 2021 was probably the witch dice game during RHC. The participants were more opened up by then and everyone had their cam and mic turned on as they went along with the game together. We had lots of laughter together during this game as we saw how each other struggled to finish the game and how one of them wasn't able to leave the game for a very long time. We had a lot of fun teasing each other and had a great time playing the game:))

With that said, even though the witch dice game was one of the best memories I had in Ylead, we still made many other really precious memories together as a group throughout the entire Ylead journey!!

I think the best memory from Y.LEAD is that all my participants are very cooperative and work together really closely which is different from what I expected as I assume that some may be less energetic initially. Really love my group's vibes!! I also had a very close relationship with my fac partners, they are really nice people and we chat a lot and encourage each other everyday. Glad to have them as my partners and friends in future. Throughout this programme I had also improve my confidence level and know how to lead others better.

During budget 2079 I was so impressed by them because they took the initiative to discuss without much prompting from us and they managed to create not only informative but also beautiful slides within 5 mins. My best memory from Y.LEAD is the morning activity on the last day, as our group managed to complete the activity and solve the riddle by 10 minutes which really impressed me. It was also quite funny to see everyone being so motivated to solve the riddle quickly so that they can go back to sleep (which they did for another 30min haha).

This seminar preperation period is in both physical and virtual. Having to prepare the knowledge for both situations is unprecedented as a facillitator, making this experience unique from the other leadership experience. Furthermore, carrying out a originally 5 day seminar into a 3 day virtual webinar is a completely different experience from past Y.LEAD. Cramping all the events effectively and still achieving the intended impacts of the events, while keeping the vibes of the Y.LEAD seminar. I really enjoyed watching my members making up the artefact for RHC. While they were very awkward and did not know what to do at the start, they gradually warmed up and started to talk each other more and worked on the project. that really warmed the cockles of my heart as they are working so well together and just enjoying making the artefact, while laughing and making jokes. It was heartwarming to see and in the end they did finish the artefact on time!

At first, I was quite worried about hyping them up as the camp is online and my participants might not be willing to on their cameras and talk. However, throughout this journey, I could feel that most of them were very cooperative and willing to answer us when we prompt them. Despite difficulties faced, such as some participants MIA or technical difficulties, we still bonded through this journey. The participants were more active. During the journey for preparation of Y.LEAD, there were many disruptions throughout the process (eg. ylead from physical to online, postponement of ylead etc.). However, all of us as facils, we adapted to the changes well and were able to respond accordingly, therefore during the preparation of ylead has allowed us to Lead even in Disruption as we overcame challenges to make YLEAD successful. Now, during the actual implementation of YLEAD in the past 3 days, it was also not easy/smoothsailing due to the tight schedule, and hiccups in the communiction process at times. However, as a team, we were able to ensure that the correct message was conveyed, and ensure participants to take part in all the activities, so that they are able to pick up new things during the camp, showing how as facils, the preparation and facilitation of YLEAD has taught us how to Lead in Disruption.

Since Y.LEAD 2021 was the first online camp or event that I facilitated, its undeniably an unforgettable experience due to how unique it is. I think it allowed me to gain alot of insights like how my teacher would've felt when the entire class would off cam and mic during online lessons TT its so awkward and terrible, im so sorry to all my laoshi never going to ignore yall ever again!! I learnt quite a few lessons through Y.LEAD: the simple act of looking into your camera can increase the engagement between you and your participants and also how important it is to have participants on their cameras and mics to greatly improve the entire experience. Y.LEAD 2021 was surely quite different since it wasnt very fun but still quite a memorable event haha

we are bound to meet disruptions as we walk through various experiences in our lives and they can take many forms. although they bring us inconveniences, these disruptions can also offer new learning opportunities and evolve our original plans.

before ylead, i though that leading through disruption meant having the means to change the original plan to work around the disruption. however through ylead i realised that we are able to leverage on our skills and abilities to retain our original plans, while introducing other aspects to make it better.

we should view disruptions as opportunities to learn more about our own skills and explore how they can be used to alter the original plans, instead of viewing them as hurdles preventing our success.

Knowing it was going to be online and the sudden increase in workload wasn't a good news. Felt really frustrated that it became like this and as everything being online makes it harder and more confusing. I now know what it means to lead in disruption. It made it a truly different experience due to the lack of physical interaction with the participants, yet having us to live up to the expectations of how hype ylead will be for the participants. Through Y.LEAD, I have learnt on how to manage situations that may be unforeseen. As the event is held online this year, technical difficulties became a problem. Even though it caused some delays, we were able to resolve it eventually by working with each other as facils of the group. Other than that, we also had to juggle between many different tabs while ensuring that we keep our participants engaged. This allowed me to understand the importance or teamwork and cooperation and to pick up the ability of multitasking. My best memory was during the LD progs. During the personality profiling, we encouraged everyone to discuss and involve everyone. When participants had to discuss and come up with answers for The Last Quest activity, I was heartened to see one of my participants taking the initiative to ask a rather shy participant "xx, what are your thoughts?" I think this helped her feel more included and in the subsequent days she was more willing to interact with us and I'm glad they have forged memorable friendships.

I think the best memory from YLEAD was the VER during RHC on day2, as I could really see how much they have progressed from day1, getting more comfortable around each other as they were much more proactive and vocal. so far the best memory i had with my fac partners and participants was coming up with a group cheer and actually doing it with them! it was a fun experience as we all messed up the first few times and we had to refilm our cheer videos but it was worth it in the end as we all enjoyed ourselves tremendously

As a facilitator, I think what makes YLEAD different from the other facilitating experiences is the amount of control we have over the participants' experience this year. For example, we really had to familiarise and run through the different games like the PP and the AA activities, as well as the debriefs for the various activities. I think YLEAD really allowed us to exercise leadership especially in terms of organising all the information online and relaying it in a clear way to participants, even more so than other events that I have experienced online and offline.

Something unexpected is that the participants were very enthusiastic and active despite it being online. I was worried that it would be very quiet and boring but the active participation made it so much btr. Also, they were more hyped as the camp goes and the last day they had fun with the gathertown, putting objects and pictures and many many fun things. Also, they would now unmute and talk and ask qns now!!! its rly unexpected and funnn

i went in with the mindset that participants would be unwilling to engage because they are at home and there are so many other things that they can be doing but i am really surprised to learn that the participants were really interested in what me and my fac partners had to say and put in their 100% effort to do the work allocated to them

My best memory from YLEAD would be the time when we made our participants do a cheer to get extra points for our fam!! Although it was awkward at the start but i think through this experience we got to bond more and it was quite a fun moment where everyone was laughing through the awkwardness. And it was also one of the rare moments whereby everyone's mic was turn on so i think it was truly a memorable part of YLEAD.

my best memory was probably during virtual escape room. it was really heartening to see all of them actively discussing and participating, applying skills we've learnt from the games in day1. my facs and I actually tried really hard to get them to speak out since day1, but we didnt have to remind them during this activity ! this makes me really proud of them, seeing how much they've developed and grew as a leader :)

I think the best memory from YLEAD 2021 is seeing initially shy and quiet participants slowly becoming more enthusiastic and more participative. From day 1 ice breakers to day 3 RHC voting, there are drastic change in the number of peopke talking and participating, which is very heartwarming to me, knowing that we have managed to get them to open up more.

After Ylead, I think that I have become more confident in leading and inspiring others to do the same. I think it's a great opportunity that has helped me speak up more and learn the troubles and benefits of being a leader. I think that Ylead is a great event that has helped us facils and participants to learn the need to take the initiative to lead. Overall, Im glad I attended Ylead and tried becoming a facil as it helped me step out of my comfort zone and earn a new, intriguing experience.

My best memory from ylead was during the logo rush game. It was heartening to see all the participants collaborate to come up with a design together, starting to open up to each other gradually despite only getting to know each other during icebreakers the night before

My best memory from YLEAD 2021 would be the presentation from my participants during RHC because we really had a lot of hiccups and bumpiness at the start, and the participants weren't very keen on talking, but then I think by going to suzanna's house, we were able to be more crazy and hype up the participants more, and from there I could see that they were more motivated and inspired to participate in more discussions. I was very very very surprised that they managed to make such an impressive presentation in a short amount of time, and really just very proud of them, and so I would think it would be my best memory of YLEAD.

Leading in idsruption is truly a challenge, and in some ways I feel might be tougher than normal, as there are more things to consider and think through and in the case of Y.Lead, things like how to engage the participants, how to make sure the message get across (especially since its a bit more difficult to clarify and ask questions online compared to f2f). So going through Y.Lead, I feel that I better understand how to have everyone work together, how to reach a consensus and how to better communicate with one another, especially through online platforms.

ylead taught me to be more assertive as a leader. there are many decisions we have to make almost as soon as we receive it ourselves, and to also disseminate to our participants. we need to be confident in the choices we make and be quick to understand everything so we can provide help to our participants. it also showed me how important it is to be sensitive to those ur leading to keep them from getting overwhelmed by information.

my favourite memory is definitely the virtual escape room in gathertown because for some reason the participants were all super hype after everyone unmuted and they just roamed around. I think that the gathertown really made my group interact with each other alot more and it was nice to joke around and get to talk with them more. also coming up with the cheer was also pretty funny because we all unmuted to sing but no on was in sync

I thought that it is going to be horrible throughout the 3 days, but it's actually quite fun. I learn to communicate with people and get to know more about them quickly. I also learnt that teamwork is actually very important for everybody to fix the puzzles together. The participants are also very eager and cooperative despite having online ylead sessions instead.

the best memory of ylead would be seeing the artefact groups work together as a team. i was initially quite worried that they would have trouble completing their homework mission as there was facils to ask them to speak up or do it but they surprised me when i saw them working together outside of ylead time in their gathertown. as an artefact group they became closer and were laughing and joking around by the third day and to see the bond that they had was quite heartwarming

firstly, it’s the first online camp that i’ve help to facilitate. it is definitely a more memorable experience especially when there is months of planning that went into it. another thing different is the gathertown experience , despite the hassle to do up the gathertown , it is more interactive and allows greater responsibility of participants to gather and speak out in their artifac groups. adding on, the activities planned were very well thought compared to other camps. even though the atmosphere for a camp is not as hyped and participants may not be as enthusiastic but it is still a very good experience

Y lead is the first online camp that I have facilitated. It’s allows me to find more about the different online platforms and which is the most engaging for all of them. Since it’s online it was more awkward at first compote to face to face. We needed continue to find ways to make the atmosphere hype.

YLEAD is online this year which makes it more difficult for facils to engage and interact with the participants. We had to adapt to the situation to make the best out of it. Given the increase of workload since it is shifted online, it definitely made ylead more difficult to conduct. However, it is nonetheless a fruitful learning experience

what makes my Y.LEAD experience different from other leadership programmes is that this is the first camp in which I have attended that is online and I had to experience facilitating for participants online and it exposed me to newer circumstances like having to deal with MIA participants, technical difficulties and ensuring that all participants are accounted for and on task, following the programmes

I think the best memory would be RHC! RHC although was quite confusing at first but as I manage to understand the programme flow it was actually very interesting. As it was on the second day, the participants was more comfortable and willing to speak up so we manage to finish pretty fast and had time to talk and know more about each other, making it pretty fun!!

Throughout this event where sometimes things may go out of hand or become too disruptive, I learnt to become more flexible and understand that not all things can go according to our plan and schedule and as the person that is directly involved in ensuring our participants have a good time, we must be able to adjust and change stuffs accordingly. So, going through this gave me the experience of leading in a disruptive setting, which in the future can give me some experience to use in the case where something like this happen again.

YLEAD has stretched me to fundamentally believe and take ownership of the idea that I create a society that I want to live and be part of. There's no reason to shy away from interactions, worrying that the next might hurt you or you'll be wasting too much time. But I want to be around people who cared for me just the way I care for them. Just do what you would do, and eventually, everything will be fine. Good energy, good vibes and a good community spirit in RV doesn't come from the student council. It comes from RVians' actions and interactions everyday. I hence hope to inspire and lead by example. People may think that the camp is over, but that doesn't matter. The energy continues, and that's the change I want to see in RV, and that's the change I'm gonna decide upon today.

The facils' time(for both D42&46)
I think it was finally a time for me to bring the whole group together and reflect upon how much they've grown. This is also a very crucial juncture where us, as facils can inspire the participants to do better, to lead better and be better. It's a place and time where we laughed, played around and affirmed each other of our efforts and our progress. One of my participants, James, told me that he missed me after he missed me, and he is really thankful of the effort and energy I instilled into the group from the very beginning, which inspired him to lead the group as well. Kaide also mentioned how by me appointing him to voice out his opinions gave him the space and confidence to be more vocal and participative during YLEAD, and hopefully beyond. Moments like this is where memories are made, bonds are strengthened and knowledge is passed on to the next generation. It was a really heart warming session that is reminding me of how much I like helping people out, to instill in them; hope, passion and inspiration to progress forward.

My YLEAD dream of bonding with my baby durians were crushed one and a half days into the camp. Really wasn't expecting this, but dang did I take a double uppercut to the jaw with a smile. HAHAHHA but this is literally leading through disruption to the max(as far as my role goes).

So something I've learnt is that anything can happen to you, but nothing can happen to your focus, attitude and drive. It reinforced my belief that you can never let your externals affect your internals. You choose what you want to be influenced by. And that's the most important skill of all.

Planning ahead. Usually I am guilty of following a rough plan and outline to achieve the goals. I would just put my head down and hammer at a task and grind through the days, and I thought that following the big picture was enough. But this YLEAD has really taught me the importance of planning ahead, with a clear picture in mind.

Because as facils, you cannot be unsure of any single bit of information during the camp. Any questions ur participants asks or any issues you face should be prepared by you, else the event will not flow smoothly for them. Plus, this time there were a lot of instructions that sometimes overlap, and by planning ahead with clear detail, a lot of issues are solved and the event can flow much smoother.

Hence in the future as one leads, one needs to be clear of every minor details so that the teammates can execute their tasks with focus and a clear picture of what they do and how what they do impacts the bigger picture.
