This Ancient Egyptian temple was built by the Egyptians, used for praising the gods and preforming rituals to keep the gods happy. Most temples were made with scenes on the side that showed the Pharaoh in action fighting which were then painted in bright colors. As you can see this temple was built with gods and goddesses on the front, made to look impressive, as this was a home for gods and goddesses. Very few people were allowed in the temple but if they were it was usually for rituals.

This picture depicts the ritual of ancient Egyptiant mummification. Mummification was a process of embalming, and wrapping a dead body with cloth. During the process of mummification some internal organs were taken out of the body dried, and put into canopic jars. The lids of the canonic jars represented gods called the sons of Horus who protected the internal organs. There was Hapy who protected the lungs. Then, Duamutef who protected the stomach. Qebehsenuef, who protected the intestines. And finally, Imsety, who protected the liver. After being wrapped in a cloth the body were then placed in tomb.

Ancient Egyptian Priests

This picture depicts an Ancient Egyptian priest preforming some of his duties. The duties priests had then are not at all what we think. Priests had the specific job of maintaining the cult of the god. They had to keep the gods happy and do physical duties for the deity. The priests had to keep the god (statue of the god) fed, clothed and even had to anoint the god. In order for a priest to go into a temple, the priest must shave all of their bodily hair, including their eyebrows and eyelashes, take a bath in the sacred lake four times a day, and wash their mouth with a salt solution of natron and water. This was done so that the priest was considered pure so that they could serve the god.
