Because I am a new worker so they give me some job and want me to learn it one by one. As a cafe, washing the cup is one of the important job. Every cup, plate and spoon need to wash very clean because of hygiene problem. Today is Saturday, it was a busy day because it is weekend. There are too many customers and my colleague teach me the most easier job which is prepare ice-cream. It is very interesting job. This is the first time I putting ice-cream in the cup. They teach me how to prepare it. It is not a normal ice-cream, RABBIT soft serve is very popular ice-cream in Penang. First of all, I have to turn on the ice-cream machine and wait for the green signal about 2 or 3 minutes. After that put the ice-cream into the cup. Then, take another cup and put a small piece of dry ice into the cup. After that put some water into the dry ice cup to make the smoke effect. Finally put the ice-cream cup into the dry ice cup to make the smoke ice-cream effect. I have tried how to serve customers and take orders. I had try my best to done all these jobs. Serve customers is not very easier that I think because sometimes if you don't really understand all the menu, you will don't even know how to answer the customers. For example, some customers will ask what is the ingredient inside the herbal coffee? If I don't know I really don't know how to answer. Herbal coffee actually contain coffee and the Chinese herbal that we call it in Cantonese is "pei pa gou". Although my coffee is fail but I gain knowledge to use this coffee machine. First of all, I need to put the coffee bean into the machine to crash it into powder. After that, squash the coffee powder in the things that i hold in this picture. Then, put the things in the hot water machine, remember to put a cup below the machine and press the hot water button. The hot water and coffee powder will mix together and spread out into the cup become coffee drinks. The last step is put some milk on the coffee to make some pattern. After customers having all the coffee, I will clean the table and collect the cups back and wash it. During this two weeks, I had learn a lot and gain a lot of experience while working in cafe. Cafe is different with restaurant, during SIEP 1 I work as a waitress in Chambers restaurant. Cafe is different compared to Chambers restaurant. The first thing is cafe only serve drinks but Chambers restaurant serve food and drinks. Cafe is more relaxing and it give everyone every customers feel comfortable.
