It's where you explain a story, here are the stuff you SHOULD have in a summary: B=Beginning, the exposition and Rising Action. M=Middle, the Climax. E=end, Falling Action and Resolution. C=Characters, for example, Arachne and Athena are the characters of the story. P=Problem, the problem which is like the Rising Action. S=Solution, the solution which is like the Falling Action.
Those are the stuff you SHOULD have in a summary. Otherwise, its not a summary.
You also need this in a summary from the story...
Exposition-The begging of the story.
Rising Action-The problem of the story.
Climax-The turning point.
Falling Action-The solution to the problem of the story.
Resolution-The end of the story.

A summary needs to be at least 6 sentences long. A good summary always has an Exposition. The Exposition is when the characters and setting is introduced for the first time. Another thing that a good summary has, is the Rising Action. The Rising Action tells events that lead up to the conflict/problem of the story. After the Rising Action there is the Climax. The Climax is usually the turning point of a story and a character changes in some way. After the Climax there is the Falling action. The Falling Action usually wraps the story up and the story comes to a reasonable conclusion. Finally there is the Resolution. In the Resolution the conflict is resolved. If you have all the things listed above you will have a perfect summary.
