Analysis of Data and Graphs

I decided to write about how long people should expect to live based on the state they reside in. The state with the lowest life expectancy for its residents is West Virginia with 63.8 years. This is understandable as it is a poor state and its jobs are more manual labor. The longest expected lifespan is 70.3 years from the state of Minnesota. This data point surprised me because I thought the wealthier states such as California or Hawaii would have the highest.

The average and median are very close to be the same number. This is not surprising as many states were in the higher sixties range. The histogram shows a peak in the middle of the graph at the age of 68. This is understandable as the mode of the graph is 69.8. The data of the graph is skewed towards the left of the graph.

There are no outliers on the graphs or gaps. The good news is that people were more likely to live into their late sixties. The down side about the data which is highlighted by the pie graph is that very few people will expect to live over 70. This data was the most surprising to me because I work with lots of older people who are well past the age of 70. I always assumed the average life expectancy would be higher than that shown by the data.

If I had to choose which graph to display the data of this graph, I really like how the pie graph shows it. The pie graph is more colorful, and it displays the data clearly. It is very easy to follow and really shows how much 68 dominates the graph in comparison to the other age groups.
