         <description><![CDATA[<div>There are many possible causes of the Salem Witch Trial hysteria. From the desire for power to the love of entertainment, the frenzy turned everyone against each other.<br>One potential reason was people of the Western half of Salem lost political power and wanted to gain power through acting as though the wealthy could perform witchcraft, to make the other citizens turn against the affluent. (Document E). Another probable reason was that the witches were killed all at one time so it could act as amusement for the other citizens. There are many other conceivable reasons that may have caused the witch trial hysteria in Salem. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Power was not the only aspect of jealousy that may have caused the frenzy. Document B shows  that most of the accusers were young, single women that may have been jealous of other citizens' husbands, so they acted as if the other women were performing witchcraft, so the men would be available for marriage. </div>]]></description>
