2) Discuss improvements/ adjustments you made to the design that allow the motor to run smoothly and explain the theory of why these work

I had to make lots of adjustments throughout this project. Some things I learned was how you need to have the paper clip touching the anode (positive side of the battery) or else it won't fully work because the rest isn't metal which means it cannot conduct energy. The other thing I learned was you need to sandpaper the wire to get a good electrical connection. At first, I was confused but then I found out that even though it looks like bare wire, there's actually a thin clear layer of insulation around it limiting the speed of the connection. It is important to check the voltage of the battery because sometimes you can be unlucky and get a dead one. Last but not least, I experienced my wire being uneven which made it more difficult for it to spin, this can be solved by adjusting it. Overall this helped me fully get electrical energy to mechanical energy to also kinetic energy

3) Explain electromagnetic induction accurately in my own words:o Thoroughly and correctly describe the function of the motor, referencing all components

Battery:
The battery stores electrical potential energy when the electrons move from the cathode to the anode. It’s how the battery is charged.

When the electrons move in another direction, they convert this chemical potential energy to electricity in the circuit, thus discharging the battery. So, the battery is all potential energy. However, once you apply this energy to another object it becomes kinetic energy with a new moving constant speed. Overall its main purpose is to provide electricity to power whatever it's supposed to.

Paper clips:
The permanent magnet attracts its opposite pole on the coil and repels its like pole, causing the coil to rotate towards it. This turns into kinetic energy as they approach the magnet and lose potential energy. As the coil turns, it loses electrical contact. The paper clips then connect this as its metal.

Coil:
The coils transfer the energy through the whole system. It is made up of copper therefore low electrical resistance making it better for the transfer of energy. This happens as the coil creates pushes the electrons in the wire and creates an electrical current, creating electromagnetism.

A changing magnetic field creates an electric field, and a changing electric field creates a magnetic field. An example would be flowing electrons producing a magnetic field, and spinning magnets causing an electric current to flow.

definitions:
electricity - a form of energy resulting from the existence of charged particles
magnetism - a physical phenomenon produced by the motion of electric charge, resulting in attractive and repulsive forces between objects.
