This film has a wide variety of establishing shots that show the vastness and beauty of the landscape. This particular montage that I found shows clips from all three films but I have chosen one from the first film that I think best represents what an establishing shot should be.

The third clip shown in this montage, at second 21, is a clip of the Fellowship is hiking atop a mountain. When the camera pans out you see just how large the mountain is compared to the ant size humans that attempt to climb it. In this mid shot it shows the two elementals interacting with each other. The fact that one is water and the other is fire kinda shows that these two aren't meant to be with one another.

The closeups are used especially because of the character of Stephen Hawking (Eddie Redmayne). Because of the character having ALS, Redmayne is unable to use his body to portray the emotions. Instead he is only able to use his eyes and limited muscles in his face to have the character go through a very emotional time with his wife, Jane (Felicity Jones), and the closeups are able to capture the emotional pain that they are both going through as the scene progresses. :59 I think is a medium shot. It showed part of the characters body . Above the character's body was fog. This kind of lets us be suspensful. This scene is shot from the back of the room but the camera is aimed on Don Vito Corleone(Marlon Brando) and only him. They didn't show anyone else's face in this scene because they wanted to really focus on Don's expressions when he is talking to the other people.

The contrast between the giant star cruiser and much smaller rebel ship shows us that one is more powerful than the other. The immensity of the cruiser, which seems to go on forever, symbolizes power over the little guy. Here is an extra close up shot of an eye from a mechanized k-9 unit. The close up shot to me shows the anger and disgust for for the humans, it's also a nice look at the robotic and detail that went into this.

The 86 story is a short animation/film based off of a dream. I would highly recommend watching it, but it's a little dark and kinda gruesome at parts. So if you're not into that sort of thing i wouldn't watch it.

The bust shot i chose shows are main character throwing a medallion into a burning fire, give up his innocences allowing him to fully and truly become a trooper.

This is a short fan made star wars short film about a boy that joins the empire. It shows the hardships of war and some of the consequences of choice. The cool thing is that the person that made this entered it in a fan film contest and actually won! So picking one was a complete no go. Each one of these shots shows the desolate wasteland and just how empty it is, besides the creature lurking around.

This is a short stop motion animation film of a post apocalyptic world. I don't know much about why or how or ever what, but the animation and the creatures in it are awesome. I can only pick one photo for this program, so i'll post some timestamps of other cool shots.

This clip has a few different filming elements. But the one I want to talk about is the close up shot. In this this clip the director takes you inside the speeder, so you can see the actors facial expressions. This creates the scene to be much more intense. They used a few different angles inside the speeder to show a close up of the actors. Inside the speeder themselves, there is action. This shot shows that the attitudes of the characters were opposite that of the actions in the scene because it's a silly and funny scene. Whereas in other movies, breaking into a house would usually include suspense, a night time setting and fear. This however does not.

I chose to write about the iconic scene of Jack and Rose kissing at the front of the boat looking out onto the sunset. The bust shot is useful because it shows their loving facial expressions and body language. This shot helps us to see how dangerous the situation is. We cans see how she is so close to drifting away from the space station and loosing who she is holding onto. I chose this scene because of the closeup shots. The camera really focuses on small things which adds more depth to the scene. We can see the sweat dripping from his face, and we can understand what he's feeling. At times the camera will show his face, then will switch to his drums, and show the blood from his hands. From these shots we are able to comprehend his feelings of pain, anger, and relentlessness.
