Escalation- The concept where adults become too confrontational and assert their power to forcefully, examples to respond are making eye contact are using a simple gesture, talking quietly to a student identifying the problematic behavior, asking the student what he or she should be doing at the moment, informing of the student what needs to be done instead of the behavior and no consequences, the teacher physically preventing the problematic student behavior from happening.

De-escalation- - knowing how to Deescalate student behavior is a critical component of classroom management some examples are speaking in a soft low tone, acknowledging, and naming the students feelings, avoid sudden movements and labeling one’s movements in advance to not start of the student, keeping hands with a student can see them, refusing to take students outburst and comments personally.

Why it's important?
It’s important to understand these terms as adults in the school so that we must keep our egos out of it and think of what is best to normalize a heated situation. Some situations require teachers to do very little while others require them to exert a moderate level of control and power. In these cases, teachers called the miss behavior, label of problematic, and then through desired replacement behavior.
