Elaboration - Under British colonial rule, large tin-mining companies were in hands of European businessmen who had large sums of money. They were able to purchase the latest and most sophisticated equipment such as tin dredges. These greatly increased production of tin. The political stability and regulations British colonial rule brough about allowed foreign capital and technology to come in. By early 20^th century, FMS became the world’s largest producer of tin. Tin exports rose from 26,000 tons in 1889 to 70,000 tons in 1929.
