The biggest dome is 45 meters and it represents 1945. So all of them together is August 17 1945 which is the Indonesian independents day.

Why was the Istiqlal mosque build in that specific location?
   
I think because president Sukarno wanted the mosque to be built near Medeka palace to follow the Javanese tradition. Also, Sukarno wanted the national mosque to be built near the Jakarta cathedral and Immanuel church to symbolize religious harmony.
