In 1957 Paul meets John when they were just 16 years old, John was the impressed by seeing Paul perform Eddie Cochran's "20 Flight Rock" from a film. Then later Paul asked John if he could join join John's group " The Quarry Men". Later in 1958 They then added a new member there lead Guitarist George Harrison. There were 4 major members of the group: John Lennon, Paul McCarthy, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr. The Beatles began to imitate the American rock sounds, They sang mostly covers of songs and a few originally written tunes. The group began a 48 day residency in Hamburg. Germany where they played 6 hours a night in nightclubs. Although 6 hours may have seemed a lot this helped them develop musically and as friends. The band extended there 48 day residency at Hamburg's red light district. There very first gig was at the Indra club, they mainly performed in front of there spectators mostly prostitutes and clients. The most major gig that helped shape the Beatles was the gig in Cavern Club, where the Beatles first met there manager Brain Epstein. Epstein happened to be watching the Beatles perform and instantly was impressed. George Martin the producer was impressed with there music but was more fascinated with the boys humor. Martin then signed the band to a one-year record contract. The band began making there first record in September 1962 the recorded there first single record. On side played "Love Me Do" and the second song was "Please Please Me," that made them there first number one hit. Most of there songs were influenced by Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, Little Richard and Carl Perkins. Already have a number one hit in the United Sates they were greeted by more than 5,000 fans at the New York airport. It wasn't till there appearance on "The Ed Sullivan Show" that enabled Beatlemania. They performed lived for the first ever on the show more than 73 million people gathered around there TV to watch setting a television record. A week later the Beatles were featured on the Newsweek magazine, and reviewed the Beatles debut from the show. John, Paul, George, and Ringo all went their separate ways. John Lennon's life was cut short when a fan shot him on December 8, 1980.
